I'm going to bugger off and suit myself, maybe get a big house with a cleaner, housekeeper and a maid

I'll pay them well.

I've also heard that Camelot provide advice, security etc - but only if you agree to go public.
I wouldn't want to tell anyone, I can imagine it changs relationships sp easily, even with the most honest and non-grabby of people.
I also heard you get letters asking for money - someone who can't afford their little girl's cancer treatment, someone else who is about to lose their home, etc, etc.

I'd probably tell close friends and family that I'd won a "smaller" amount - eg £300,000. There are definitely people I would want to help out, and I'd want to fritter a little bit.

After that I'd just enjoy a life where there's no need to ever budget, or think "can we afford that". Grin

They offer that to everyone who wins a substantial ammount wether you go public or not, they are leagally obliged to in order for them to operate. I believe they may offer PR to public winners, because anonymous winners are less likely to need it.

I wouldn't tell anybody. I'd sit on it for a while. Set up a business idea I've been thinking about. Redecorate my house. New car. Live off the interest.

I'd follow the sun ☀

I'd earmark a proportion for charity/giving away and set up a charitable trust.

Friends of ours just told people they'd won a relatively small amount (about 25k I think) then quietly paid off their mortgage, and their parents mortgages, started having amazing holidays and said they'd had an unexpected inheritance. Seems to have worked for them.

JudyCoolibar · 15/09/2016 10:33

I wouldn't say anything immediately, but I think I'd eventually tell people I'd won something, but not how much. Because it would be kind of noticeable when we moved house and got the flash car.

Surely if you win that much money you could afford the best financial adviser money can buy?
I wouldn't tell anyone then after a year I would help family out somehow.

Got the flash car.

Sorry to drone on about cars, but....if i won, i would not buy any car. Id have a car service, if a team of people rotated for rest and holidays etc. who were always where i am, incase i want to be somewhere else. Bliss.

Oh, and i would have new socks every day.
