Do I need a make up artist for my wedding?

I'm getting married in 3 months. Hairdresser booked. Usually do my own makeup OK but not amazing but had two trails and both were hideous, caked on and looked awful far too heavy.

Does everyone get their make up done professionally for their wedding? I wanted to look special and the best version of me but haven't been impressed with the professionals attempts so far at all.

WIBU to attempt my own make up on the day or should I keep trying to find someone else?

If you had a professional make up artist did you think they were worth it?

My lovely bridesmaids paid for a MUA for me as a surprise even though I'd already said I didn't want one, and although I was grateful for the thought, I ended up altering my makeup myself after she'd finished as it just didn't look like me!
Moral of the story: always have a trial and speak up if you're not happy or want changes.
It can be a nice, pampery time, though, if you enjoy that.
Congratulations when it comes!

I don't buy the whole 'you need to wear more makeup to look right in photos' idea. You just like you're wearing lots of makeup in the photos too.

Your DH clearly likes the way you look or he wouldn't be marrying you, so don't give him a shock on the day by caking it on. I work in the fashion industry and have had to have professionals do my makeup for work lots of times and I've always looked bloody awful! Did my own on my wedding day because I wanted to look like me.

I think Jaclyn Hill has a bridal makeup tutorial on YouTube, have a look she is fab.
