To want to completely go 'clean eating'

I'm on a very low calorie diet/strict exercise programme at the moment. When I reach my target weight after a week or so I want to start on a complete clean eating programme. Just eating fresh fish, nuts , fruit and veg and drinking just water. In some ways, it's boring - no tasty treats etc!! Having said that - I did this precise eating programme for a few weeks back in 2013 - and felt so much more 'alive'!! Also my teeth have suffered over the years due to all the processed rubbish I've eaten.

AnthonyPandy - interesting question you posed - but no I wouldn't eat yogurt or have milk - I'd get my calcium from almonds - apparently they are calcium rich.

And yes I would intend to cook veg like broccoli etc although some e.g. carrots you can have raw.

I would suggest eating as wide a variety as you can, Capricorn and be careful where you look for information.
A lot of the clean eating gurus online have no qualifications or basic nutritional knowledge and can be misleading in what they preach.

I did read an article about a young woman that had a debilitating illness for years which was a mystery to doctors. It was eventually discovered that she had Mercury poisoning from eating fish daily.
So easy on the fish!

Real life just takes over....

If you loved clean eating somuch, what made you stop after 3 weeks? The effort? Why did you start eating differently again?

YANBU My sister has been a vegan and not eaten anything processed since 2007, and hasn't been ill (not even a cold) since then.

Before that I drank loads of caffeine which has a somewhat regulating effect on your emotions - makes you alert when you just want to crash out etc etc

It sounds like you're talking about your energy levels rather than your emotions and the reality of your tears. Grin You mean you feel more naturally alert rather than hopped up on caffeine and sugar? I can understand that.

BabyGanoush - good question - 3 years ago I was basically in a very different headspace emotionally. It wasn't really the effort that made me stop - I do hasten to add even though I was clean eating - I was overweight - more overweight than I am now. Now - I'm on a desperate mission to be slim - I'd like to go down to around 7 and a half stone...

I think it's just certain types of fish that contain Mercury which can accumulate in your body. My knowledge is quite sketchy, you'd probably have to Google. Smile

I just wouldn't want to put so much focus, so much thought and so much head space into eating tbh.

It sounds a bit obsessive to me.

But if it suits you and you think you can keep it up, whilst feeling perfectly happy, I don't see a problem.

Er yes, the Mercury poisoned lady did have her amalgam fillings removed as a precaution but the doctors said it was her over consumption of fish that caused all her symptoms.

I won't pass judgement on this diet (except to say that I love carbs and couldn't live without pasta Grin. But I ca't stand how it calls itself 'clean' eating. No. Eating things outside of this regime isn't dirty and I believe that demonising food groups is actually dangerous,

7 and a half stone sounds very low unless your 4ft tall or under.Sad Be careful not to take your weightloss too far or to let it take over your thoughts.

I think there's a lot of variety in clean eating

taken at face value of processed food I can't see what the issue is tbh

maybe I'm missing something.

7 and a half stone is far too thin. My friend just died from anorexia. I being thin isn't worth it.

By clean you just mean healthy? It's difficult to cut out sugary/processed food entirely, and your body is good at dealing with those things in moderation (physically I mean - mentally it might be a problem if you struggle to keep things in moderation).

I'm a vegetarian and mostly I only eat fresh and unprocessed foods, I rarely drink anything other than water either. But I do have a chocolate bar or some cake or a pizza every now and then too. I'd probably go insane if I tried to say NEVER.

fitfatty - well I'm short and I used to weigh that and ate more than enough to fuel good workouts.

if the OP is going to tell us she is 6ft 4in, a bit different.

I just looked this up on a weight chart and it seems you can do 7 and a half till 5 ft 4 and still not fall foul of the NHS - but some people are just tiny, I've got a few friends who would be considered medically a bit underweight but I think a lot of factors contribute to good health.

stupid question - can you eat chick peas or lentils on clean eating, I guess not?
