To think dh is a self obsessed and selfish arsehole

I work part time 3 days a week. I am the dcs "default parent" so I fit my life and work around them. I work two weekdays (school hours) and every Sunday. I deal with all school runs, holidays, school events, after school activities and then cook everyone's tea before he gets home.

The dc's have a party to go to tomorrow and I've asked dh to drop them off so I can have a lie in as I'll be working on Sunday which is when he can have his lie in. I'll then pick them up while he's watching the football. We've both been up early every day in the week for school runs and work etc.
I think he is being really selfish. He expects me to take them and stay there at the party so he doesn't have to do anything, so he can lie in Saturday and Sunday!
What a dick!

I've shown him the tread and he's stormed out in a strop to make a point. The real reason is just incase I ask him to clean the hob. I'm a messy cook! He hasn't lifted a finger since getting in from work. He's had a bad attitude with me and caused and argument when I asked him to ten the dc's to the party. Oh and he went and lay on the bed for half an hour.
He said I've told you all lies, that he comes into a messy house. He does not! I do every Sunday after work which I then have to clean up. Fuck him!

Well he could fucking clean some stuff himself couldn't he? He's stormed off because he knows he is being unreasonable.

God, what a twat

Hippywannabe · 09/09/2016 22:29

He is a twat. If you worked more hours you would be paying someone to have the dcs.

SallyMcgally · 09/09/2016 23:01

I'm quite sympathetic to your claim on tomorrow's lie-in, but if I found a thread where I was described as a selfish, self-obsessed arsehole, I'd be furious. It's maybe not the best way to make your point to him.

PovertyPain · 10/09/2016 00:30

If the cap fits. Wink

I think you'll find that most selfish, self-obsessed arseholes don't actually think the description fits. I also would be beyond devastated if my husband showed me a thread on a website where he described me like this. Showing him the thread was never really going to result in him saying "Oh darling, you are so right, glad you showed me how wrong I was".

Op I think you are very angry with him - not just over this incident.

Canyouforgiveher · 10/09/2016 00:34

meant to say you probably have good reason to be angry. But even if he gets out and brings the kids to the party, you aren't going to solve the bigger issue of how you feel about him.

arethereanyleftatall · 10/09/2016 11:50

I'm not liking this thread at all. Ganging up to call someone names without knowing full details. Not nice.
If you work two of the week days, that means you're 'off' from 9-3 on three week days. Assuming hw etc takes 2 hours (obvo I might be wrong), you get 4 hours free time 3 days of the week.
This is the situation I'm in. Yes, I do let my dh have both the lie ins at the weekend, and the majority of free time at the weekend, because I get a chance in the week to have an afternoon nap or whatever.
Not saying you do of course, I don't know, I've just found this thread distasteful.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 10/09/2016 12:02

I'm sympathetic to your situation, OP. Your DP needs to parent/husband up. Flowers

But like others, I'm wondering what you thought showing your DP this thread was going to acheive? The name calling likely means he is going to be hurt, angry and dismiss all valid points out of hand.

A11TheSmallTh1ngs · 10/09/2016 12:12

Is this really how you communicate in your marriage?

You both sound 12 years old

Justalittlelemondrizzle · 10/09/2016 16:05

I wouldn't dream of having a nap while the dc's are at school Atall. Showing him the thread gave him a much needed reality check. He doesn't believe me when I say he is being unreasonable so I thought it would help to shoe him other peoples views on what happened.
He hasn't mentioned it since and took dc's to party without moaning this morning.

Why not?

Good that he took the DCs to the party. Do you think he's away moaning about it on Dadsnet? Grin

Justalittlelemondrizzle · 10/09/2016 17:02

I'm not sure. Once I'm up, I'm up. Haha I think he realised he was being a dick but is too embarrassed to admit it.
