Moving down south

Hi looking for advice on where is nice to move to near to Crawley, good for a young family age 1 and 3. Need to good transport links to London, community, nurseries, schools and amenities nearby.. Not too huge a town but not too isolated either as would like to meet people and make new friendships as this is a relocation from up North. Thanks in advance 😘👍

Horsham is bigger and closer to Crawley.

Billingshurst is a smaller town/village, further away

Both have train links to London, excellent communities/schools etc.

Depending on budgets...

All have excellent links to London and the wider south east, Horley has some excellent schools and nurseries

If you want somewhere with more life East Grinstead is nice

Horley is not unpleasant, although high street quite rundown it has Waitrose and Lidl, good nurseries and primary schools and fast train to London ( when not on strike!). East Grinstead also nice area with varied shops and cafe culture.

Thanks! Everything seems to pointing towards Horsham. I'll need to look at the others too, not too familiar with the areas yet... It's a minefield!😳

Lots of exciting building work going on in redhill, it's been run down for a while, but I have high hopes for its regeneration. Have a look at the villages and towns along the rail line.

Do you need to be in Crawley? Or London? Or both?!

Husbands work mainly in Crawley but possibly London too, so links to there would be good too. Will look along the rail line thanks 👍👍

Horsham is lovely. Easy commute with direct trains to Victoria and London Bridge and Waterloo isn't too much hassle to get to either. Lots for children to do and you can be on the outskirts and have countryside and town all within easy reach.

All are near to Crawley, on the London/Brighton train line, great schools and plenty for young families

Horsham, Broadbridge Heath.

Hassocks, Horsham or Burgess Hill, if you fancy somewhere smaller and can afford it I used to live in Henfield which is lovely

East Grinstead not great into London, it's not on the Brighton mainline which Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and Hassocks are. I live near Hassocks but in a village without a train station. I drive to Crawley and catch train to London from Burgess Hill as parking is better than Hassocks.

Lots of housing development in Horsham currently, to the north so close to Crawley. It is a big town though, but lots of facilities.

Can you come down for a weekend? Narrow down your choices then visit a few and see which jump out? Easier to then house hunt / call nurseries or preschools about availability when you've got a better idea of where you'd like to live.

Horsham all the way, it's lovely for families. Fabulous park, lots to do, decent schools. East Grinstead ought to be nice but it got horribly messed up and traffic there is diabolical. Horley is depressing IMO.

If it's mainly Crawley I would look between Crawley and Brighton!
If London is only occasional then a longer journey is not such an issue!

It's a minefield!

Perhaps the people of Horsham are trying to tell you something?
