to think that sharing electric toothbrushes is revolting?

When I went to a friend's house the other day, her daughter (7) was getting ready for bed, so we were all chatting in the bathroom while she was cleaning her teeth. I was Shock to see her pick up a toothbrush head from a glass containing three others (one for each parent and her brother), and attached it to the single electric toothbrush in the bathroom! Her mum explained that they thought buying a toothbrush each was too expensive (they are both in good jobs and not particularly tight for cash) and that it was easier to share. Apparently each toothbrush head has a little coloured ring thingy to tell them apart...???!

Some are sold with a 4 toothbrush head holder with a flippy cover.

hollyisalovelyname · 07/09/2016 18:35

ACasual why didn't I think of that!!!

CarrieLouise25 · 07/09/2016 18:39

Same here, one (expensive) toothbrush, 4 separate heads all with little coloured rings to know which one is which.

We have the floppy cover thing to, to store them in. Think that's what they're designed for?

DH always goes last though, as he's a dribbler.

Natsku · 07/09/2016 18:41

We share ours, would be silly not to. All have different coloured rings on our heads and stored on different shelves in the mirror cabinet. Always rinse off the toothpaste dribble after using of course.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 07/09/2016 18:49

We did this when I was a nipper, we even had different coloured heads let alone rings!!!

IveAlreadyPaid · 07/09/2016 18:51

What a good idea!

Artandco · 07/09/2016 18:54

I don't get the issue with sharing the brush end with partner either tbh. I Mean Dh and I share saliva etc anyway so it's no different

Fluffyears · 07/09/2016 18:56

We share a base and use our own bristle bit, we just rinse after use, even if someone did dribble on the handle you aren't putting that bit in your mouth.

user1473106504 · 07/09/2016 18:58

Its separate heads so dont see the big deal

ZanyMobster · 07/09/2016 19:03

We've always shared one toothbrush and had different heads. The kids have their own as it's not as powerful. We actually do have 4 in total but keep 1 adult and 1 child one in the downstairs loo in case someone's in the bathroom. I always thought it was normal and I'm glad that according to this thread it is lol.

P1nkP0ppy · 07/09/2016 19:09

I think it's you that has the problem op.
We have 4 different colour rings on the heads, one base unit, surely you aren't suggesting that we go out and buy three more?
I'm pretty certain we don't lick the toothpaste off (and we're not dribblers) after the previous user 😳 so what's your problem?

raviolidreaming · 07/09/2016 19:18

I'm with you OP! I don't want to share a toothbrush - even though we both have super expensive ones. As far as I'm concerned, the heads are replaceable - not interchangeable! H gets toothpaste all down the handle of his - even after a rinse, I deserve better! Grin

Sharing a toothbrush?! Is nothing sacred?!

dybil · 07/09/2016 19:28

I'm with the vast majority - we share.
