My dd is turning 7 next month on a weekday..... a party is planned for her on a separate day plus days out with both sets of grandparents...

On the day though I want to do something to mark the occasion and make it special for her afterschool.....

I was thinking a meal out but in reality , how exciting is that for a 7 year old?!

I have become very stressed out trying to plan the perfect evening/afternoon that is at the same time low key, does anyone have any good ideas?

Build a bear is genius idea for that age. Followed by KFC or similar and it would be perfect.

We have Birthday Breakfast when a birthday falls on a school day. Cupcakes in the number of the birthday (so would be 7 cupcakes for your dd), iced simply with something relevant and personal, birthday candle in each. Presents from Mummy and Daddy on the breakfast table. Lights off, candles lit and sing happy birthday. Cupcakes then eaten for breakfast.

Our dc absolutely adore this, and are actually disappointed if their birthday falls on a weekend and I suggest eating out instead.

some pubs have indoor playparks like my local one maybe find a place to eat out thats fun.I use tripadvisor to look at restaurants in area .Maybe a american diner they are fun.Depends whats in your area maybe start a thread fun places to eat near(dont say were you live just nearest large settlement)

bowling alleys usually have food and arcades they can be fun

My seven year old would LOVE going out for a meal. But last year on her birthday we had afternoon tea with posh teacups and saucers. We usually do a 'party tea' and decorate the room.

Cinema trip?
