I have a really weird eye for miming. The singing in the auditions was a million percent pre recorded.

Yes it most definitely is staged. The producers have people whose sole job it is to find the next contestants, they email managers and agents and scour YouTube etc. People are then invited to audition, and they don't have to queue for hours. They're given an appointment.
They do exactly the same for Britains Got Talent.

It's a disgrace that thy lie week after week to the viewers.

We put it on because we thought it might be a fun family thing to watch with 7yo DS. Never again. The whole show is so... dishonest. Where is the pleasure in watching something so contrived?

I think it's crap, hence why I don't watch it. It amazes me, the amount of people that slag it off & then consistently moan, how fixed it is etc. The same people moaning on FB week in, week out. It's as if people are forced to watch it

I stopped watching it a few years ago because it just got so ridiculous - I always knew it was fake (well, maybe I didn't realise the first couple of years) but I used to enjoy suspending disbelief and going along with it, but I've just gone right off it now. Tried to watch the new series and got to the second audition before giving up.

To be honest when I saw the OP title in active convos I assumed the end of the sentence would just read 'shit' and came on to agree!
Watched it last night for the first time in a couple of years out of curiosity and lasted about 10 minutes. Me and DH had a longer conversation about what the token sob story will be this year!
