To think we don't all need a label?

Recently split with H, and he has become obsessed with 'diagnosing' people with disorders. It is causing major issues with contact for the children.

For instance DD is 11, and he is adamant she has bipolar disorder, because his sister does and she 'reminds him of her at a similar age'.

DS is 3 and is a little rebellious so must have autism.

Since I don't agree with his armchair diagnostics, I now have narcissistic personality disorder.

I can't deal with it and he's beginning to upset the little ones. Incidentally he has no diagnosed disorder but has spent his adult life chasing an excuse for his childish behaviour. I'm quite perturbed at being branded a narcissist by someone who thinks so highly of himself.

What do I do?

Just a warning. The last thread that referred to a diagnosis as a label did not end well...

However, I can see that your thread isn't about the diagnostic process etc but about how your ex is seeing stuff that isn't there. I presume he is the only one that has these concerns?

I'd tell him to fuck off. I very much like Dereks "label". Seems to fit quite nicely.

No, it's not that I see them as labels but that he does. As if it's fashionable. I've told him where to go but he doesn't listen.
