To be proud of ds (1st day of secondary school)

Aibu to be so proud of my ds2?

I overheard him talking to my mum about his first day at secondary school. (Large all boy school.)

He tells her that he and his friend noticed a boy at break time sitting on their own, silently crying, and they rushed over to say hello, are you ok etc etc. This child didn't know anyone and felt overwhelmed.

They ended up making him laugh and helped him find his next lesson together.

Sorry I know it's boastful but I wanted to tell someone!

littledrummergirl - good for her, and I hope not. Smile

Enko - so your ds feels inspired to pass it on? and you're right it means a lot at times when you feel vulnerable.

yes he says it made a first day that was scary really happy and he is thriving in the school.

Odly I now work with both boys and have told them both so they also know how much their little time of kindness meant to a scared 11 year old.

Your son is lovely. I have a very shy and sensitive eldest son and I hope when he starts secondary school he is lucky enough to meet someone as kind as your son. Hats off OP, you have done a brilliant job with him.

Lovely story.

That is really lovely. You should rightly be very proud Smile

What a wonderful son you have raised OP. Well done him!! My son dreaded his 1st day at Big School. We had just moved 500 miles and he was very unhappy. He's now going into Y10 and very contented, thankfully. . Wish he'd met somebody like your son on his 1st day - it would have helped him settle much faster. FlowersFlowersFlowers

Lovely! As a pastoral lead for y7, id be looking to praise/phone home if I saw such behaviour :-)

You quite rightly should be proud, the poor boy he helped will never forget his kindness......your son sounds fab and well done for raising such a lovely person!
