To think this should be considered a Food Crime?

So I have just seen an advert for it and it reminded me how much I hate it. Jelly with fruit in it. Why? Why would you ruin jelly by putting fruit (that invariably goes soggy and mushy) in it? Just why? Same goes for yoghurt with fruity bits in it. Makes me feel sick just thinking about it. 😫

What foods do you feel have been ruined worldwide or by someone that you know?

Heratnumber7 Which is why it is banned in French schools.

Dr Coconut -dried fruit in anything is revolting! It must be what eating flies is like. Salted caramel is divine though, and peanut butter (must be crunchy ) is good on toast with lots of butter and salt. Mushy peas, yuk and double yuk!

Hesalovernotabiter · 04/09/2016 10:28

Regional, but I'm hoping people have heard of it- 'The Parmo' no, just no. It's a lesson in how to ruin good ingredients 😷

Gyderlily · 04/09/2016 12:31

worriedmum
No, that bread does not help the toaster issue whatsoever... It's the same size as all the rest and warburtons should really be pulled up on false advertising tbh!
Fruit in any savoury dish is wrong to me ... Like raisins in curry , just wrong!! Also bread as a dessert or in any kind of sauce! Bread has one use in life and it should know it's place Hmm

Ifeelsuchafool · 04/09/2016 13:04

BeingaTwatitsaBingThing I'll see your bread in a flower pot and raise you bread served in a flat cap! And this is in my village and a Michelin starred restaurant! DD2, who spent a summer working there, assures me they're laundered regularly but... This summer said DD2 has been working at a local stately pile and they use margarine for everything (DD2 says it's to make life easier for the dairy free punters but I call, "cheapskates!) Veggies slathered in the stuff to stop them drying out under the lights

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/09/2016 13:13

A flat cap? Hmm How is that possible?

Beingatwat I've always loved this ad ... seems appropriate for a parenting forum too Wink

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/09/2016 15:26

Well, that was lovely. Confused

My personal food crime is anything that involves soaking bread or cake with non-alcoholic liquid. So I've never liked bread and butter pudding, summer pudding or tiramisu. It makes me think of soggy white-bread sandwiches or a bad accident with your post-dinner espresso, liqueur and amaretto biscuits.

Agree too about pineapple on pizza. But sorry, some Cheddars are not made to be melted. The sort of vintage Cheddar with salty crystals that crumbles when you cut it is meant for oatcakes and crackers, not cheese toasties.

FitbitAddict · 04/09/2016 16:54

Someone eating a KitKat without breaking it into fingers gives me the shivers.

Psychomumsucks · 04/09/2016 19:41

My partner today just put chicken korma and rice on a slice of buttered bread (he had three) and folded to make a sand which and ate the lot like that... Sometimes i cant watch him eat because of the weirdness.

gillys · 04/09/2016 20:59

Salad cream folded into mashed potatoes & studded with pickled onions, vinegar all over a bacon sandwich. Yummy.
Love salted caramel & fruit in savoury dishes.
Can't stand celery, gherkins, walnuts,
Dh will put anything in a sandwich.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/09/2016 22:01

Gah! Some of those combinations should be outlawed! I'll stick with my cheese and cucumber thanks.

I put leftover Bolognese in a toastie once.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 05/09/2016 05:59

No! No! No! AGL!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/09/2016 09:45

AverageGayLad - ds1 used to do leftover bolognese on toast, top it with cheese, and brown it under the grill. Sorry, Being.

Ifeelsuchafool · 05/09/2016 12:27

It's not baked in the flat cap, just served in it. Together with butter in a little pat on a board Grin

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 05/09/2016 12:51

That makes more sense. Grin

ifeelsuchafool Aaaahhh, I know who you're talking about. Does the chef own a restaurant in a village and another one Inn the City??

VanillaSugar · 05/09/2016 18:59

If it's the same one, then the soap in the loo is shaped like pieces of cheese. I had lunch with Giles Coren (from The Times & Supersizers etc) there. He didn't like the bread in the flat cap either.

Ifeelsuchafool · 05/09/2016 22:08

So, BeingATwat 3 guesses as to which county I'm in? Grin
