I used to be a teacher, so kids names do have certain connotations for me. I taught a lovely Kara and Cara :-)

I have 2 that can sound oh so chavvy when said with their middle names they weren't meant to be. They just are.

My kids. My names. My choice.

Keep right off the baby name threads, Bing! They get round to hating every name on earth, eventually! It goes in phases, and is inevitable. One year's interesting, unusual name is the next year's overused, "common" one!

Morning! DS won a plastic duck in the village show & DD names it Gertrude so I'm going to wade in and say I'm going to call my new arrival that name - and then literally duck

DS has a Kara at school, kind of. Her parents spell it in a traditional Irish way which means it's unpronounceable if you try to say it phonetically. Kara or Cara is a much easier option.

child was going to be named Madrigal but family members were not allowed to shorten aforementioned name !!!!!!
