To get this for DD even though MIL wants to? (Christmas related sorry)

Sorry this is to do with Christmas presents.

DD will be 18months old just after Christmas. She currently loves dolls, and I'm told that she loves stroking the heads of the younger babies in her room at nursery.

Talking to MIL the other day she suggested buying a dolls pram for DD for Christmas. I thought this was a brilliant idea.

Today my best friend has text me asking if I want a brand new boxed Silvercross dolls pram for DD as her DD who's 3 isn't bothered by it, it's only been taken out the box once on the daughters birthday for photos and she hasn't played with it at all. She wants me to have it for free as a thank you for doing two massive favours for her a few weeks ago (babysitting all 3 of her children for a whole day and then driving her to hospital in the middle of the night with her 1 year old DS2 with my DD in tow because DH was working).

I really want to take the pushchair, I know my DD will love it if I can keep it hidden from her until Christmas that would be brilliant too but how do I tell MIL without upsetting her?

MIL is generally lovely, and adores my DD her only GC I really don't want to upset her.

So AIBU to take the pushchair off my friend or should I let MIL buy one?

Just be honest with mil. If you were planning to buy a pram then I could see you mil being a little upset but as it's a new one for free I doubt she'd have a problem.

The cot is a good idea for your mil to get instead or a doll for your dd. There's also things like a changing bag, nappies, bottles, clothes, blankets etc that can be added to the pram.

My DDs are way past this stage, but I remember one of them had bunk beds for their dolls, which was considered the coolest thing ever. If you are honest with MIL, she will hopefully be ok with getting a special cot / bunk beds instead. Don't turn down the offer of the free pram.
