To be flabbergasted by the utter cheek of this woman

I'm posting on behalf of my Dsis who is without internet connection at the moment. We're both interested to see what other mumsnetters opinion is on this.

My Dsis has been with her DP for around 9 years. He has a teenage son with his ex, therefore the ex is still in his life to some degree, as you would expect. They split years before he got together with my DSis. The ex has remained single since their split. She has always made it quite obvious she can't stand my Dsis and is very jealous of their relationship. When they first moved into together she wouldn't let their son visit, Dsis DP had to visit him at her house. The ex and my Dsis have come across each other at family events etc and my Dsis will always say hello and try to be polite, she will not even look at my Dsis let alone mutter a hello. It's also got back to my Dsis that the ex has made bitchy comments about her and our family. Basically she's always been an utter cow. You would think Dsis had been the other woman.

My Dsis and her partner have just moved into a lovely new house, which they had built. They invited his Mother and two sisters over this afternoon to see the house for the first time. Guess who had tagged along with them? Yes that's right, the ex who has made it plainly obvious she hates my Dsis guts. Obviously the need to come and be nosey at their house was so strong she couldn't resist. She managed to say hello to my Dsis but did not talk to or acknowledge her for the remainder of the visit.

Are we being unreasonable or has she got more front that Brighton Beach? I also can't believe her DP Mother or sisters agreed to let her come along. She's been open to them about her feelings towards DSis.

Dsis was too stunned to say anything.

I hope he let loose on his mother and sister for bringing her along for a nosy.
Yes she has more front than Blackpool Cheeky cow.
Maybe your Sis should roll up to her house for a nosy seeing thats how the Ex rolls.

BIL doesn't do confrontation

Oh how convenient for him..... well in that case he won't react when DSIS hauls him over the coals for being a spineless twat will he? Or is it just XW and ILS that mustn't be upset?

I don't blame your sister for her lack of reaction - her husband should have taken care of it and told XW to bog off.

Tbf ex is probably massively jealous now about the lovely new house! It is really weird though maybe she was encouraged to go and see it though by his relatives??

On what planet would the ex need to see where her teenaged child will be spending some of his time? Possibly if he were a very young child and the op's sister and dh lived in a bedsit but not when it's their house.

Your sister definitely has a dh problem. He needs it clearly pointing out to him that it's his wife he needs to keep happy and not his ex. I can understand not wanting to risk upsetting the ex and her causing access problems out of spite, I've been there and got the t-shirt, but his ds is a teenager not a young child so has much more autonomy to visit his dad when he wants.

What were her mil and sil thinking though? I could just about understand if the ex was on good terms with your sister but when the ex clearly despises your sister why the hell would they bring the ex? Unless it was to make a point to your sister.

I made it clear to dh when we moved in together that the day his ex set foot in our house was the day I left it. That may seem ott but dh's ex caused huge problems between me and dh and tried her damnedest to split us up, no way would I let someone like that in my home even if she is dsd's mum.

Op your sister needs to make her dh grow a pair and start standing up to his ex and family instead of letting his family invite his venomous ex to family occasions and letting his ex speak to his wife like dirt.
