To be irritated by shop stock?

Yes I know I am but I just got back from holiday an hour ago and am doing last minute shopping for a party I'm going to in an hour.
She asked for slippers.
Can I buy slippers? No I bloody can't.
I have been to 8 shops, 3 of which are actual shoe shops. They have sandals, flip flops, WELLIES, but no slippers.
When I'm trying to pick up summer things like bikinis in the summertime, I'm told it's too late, they're selling their Autumn/Winter collection.
So I thought I'd be safe, shopping for slippers in the summer as they are, you know, AUTUMN/FUCKINGWINTER!
And yes, I know I'm shouting Grin
And I've now wasted a further 5 minutes of my time typing this message of anger. All in a bid to deem IANBU to expect shops to sell the stock they say they are stocking!

Tesco have slippers. I don't think they're £50 though. You could get 10 pairs I suppose

blitheringbuzzards1234 · 28/08/2016 12:59

Have you tried Clarks, if there's one near you that's open today?
I once bought slippers in summer, looked in the above-mentioned, a young assistant approached me and I said, "I suppose it's the wrong time of year for slippers, isn't it?" She said they had some in the store room, asked my size and any particular style, she brought me a few pairs to try on and Bob's your uncle.

Order from Amazon or splash out on some Mahabis from their online shop.

I'm back! With slippers from sainsburys, flowers, fizz and chocs.
It's my SIL, her DH hasn't bothered at all with her birthday this year (like most others) and her DC were disappointed not to give her anything.
If I had been at home I would have taken them out but I wasn't around.

I just wasn't near any of those shops at the time! They are another 20 minutes in the car which wouldn't usually be a problem but I was under time pressure Grin

Thanks for agreeing with me everyone, I am concluding that i was indeed NBU Grin - and if you thought I was, you're wrong

Why do the shops do that with their stock? It's still so hot but all the summer clothes have gone, except or the straggle ends of the sale rack - just why?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 28/08/2016 13:05

I think you may be suffering from slipper blindness, I've seen loads.
This is a condition brought on by last minute present buying anxiety.

The best thing to do is try to breathe normally and lie down.

Soubriquet · 28/08/2016 13:05

Told you sainsburys would have them

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 28/08/2016 13:07

..Ahh just seen that your slipper blindness has eased off Grin. Good old Sainsburys.

BestZebbie · 28/08/2016 13:07

In future, moshulu do slippers all year round:

TalcAndTurnips · 28/08/2016 13:09

Joanna Lumley made slippers out of a bra once. I suppose the success would depend on foot/boob size ratio.

CakeNinja · 28/08/2016 13:14

Talc, she is quite small in both departments but I think there would still be too much foot uncovered Grin

And yes, it's possible I was blinded by panic shopping but then I asked in all the shops and they confirmed to me that they had nothing in Shock

Well done Soubriquet - first prize!

Shall o mention all school uniform gone by July?

I want to buy end of August/September - not sodding July

You h and T shirts I want t shirts under my winter jumper - why does anyone sell t shirts in winter

Swim suits - kids grow in winter as well

Ahhhhhhh

BelfastSmile · 28/08/2016 13:37

I feel your pain. I remember trying to buy swimming trunks for DS(1) last year, just before Halloween. EVERY shop said they were seasonal and they wouldn't have them until Spring. Like no one swims the rest of the year, in indoor pools and stuff.

(Finally got a really cute pair in H&M sale, for about £2, so it ended happily)

unlucky83 · 28/08/2016 13:39

I agree ...sort of... but then I find it irritating that they get the winter/autumn stock in July and the summer stock in Feb...if you aren't organised and want to last minute shopping for your holiday you are stuffed....
But I thought it would be my personal bug bear ...and the worst culprit is George at Asda for school uniform. They have 30 of one size, one or two in other sizes and none in some - which is usually the size I want...
I've taken to ordering online for delivery to the store...
