We promised the dc we'd take them to a local outdoor event today however I've woken up in a lot of pain and am incredibly grumpy. We are forever having to cancel events and days out because of my poor health so it would be nice to not have to.

However I really don't feel I can go. I feel dh is on the end of his tether with me backing out of family days and him having to do them alone so on that front and due to the kids I feel obligated to go.

I need pain relief and sleep though.

I too think you should take the plunge and get some wheels!
I have a 21 yr old with cerebral palsy. We spent years on various therapies when he was young - he walks, he'll never be on the catwalk in Milan, and he'll never balance a book on his head whilst walking a la Eliza Doolittle. But he walks.
But what is the point of him walking for the sake of it? What's the point of him walking to the swimming pool if he's too tired to swim with us when he gets there? What's the point of him walking round the zoo when he's too puffed to smile and laugh with his family at the antics of the animals. What's the point if he's tired and achey afterwards.
So he has wheelchairs. An electric which is parked in a little shed outside, and an aluminium lightweight folding one for travelling (though he hates me pushing him).
Don't deny yourself a family life.
I'm really sorry about your pain though and I hope it's being managed effectively.
