fucking name tags

Aibu or is sewing name tags into school uniforms the most tedious job in the world?
6 shirts 2 jumpers 4 pairs of trousers at two name tags each ( fucking school requirement ) that's 24 tags. I have to buy Ds so many changes as he trashes them daily and we have no tumble dryer.
Join me in my sewing misery.
Oh and iron on one's disintegrate in the wash.

Can't you teach even a very young schoolchild to do this under your supervision? That seems like an excessive quantity of uniform - hey so many changes of clothes?

Plus on a practical level, they can be quickly done with big messy stitches if you like. No need for perfectionism.

Sew the short ends very, very well. They can be used as hanging loops and it takes less time.

Yanbu ....it's hell. The tracksuits look lovely and soft but it would it would be easier to push the needle through the Yellow Pages!

I got stick on ones last year, they stick onto the washing care labels like limpets, survived an entire year of washing/drying/ironing repeatedly. Genius! With 5 full sets of uniform to name I'll be buggered if I'm going to sew on over 100 name tapes 😂

You can find decent iron on ones and put them on using hair straighteners.
Much faster!

I get quality iron ones and they don't shift at all!! In fact passing some uniform down and ended up having to cut labels out as couldn't get the tags off at all on some clothes.

I use mynametags.ie they are iron on and never fade/wash off they are brilliant. They do stick on ones too for lunch boxes etc that are dishwasher proof. They aren't cheap but they are worth every penny imo.

I use attach a tag. Screw on, tool off. Bloody brilliant IMO.

I am resigned to the fact that I am the only living person to find the act of sewing name labels, therapeutic. I stick a film on and then I'm off. What's wrong with me?

I use 'my name tags', expensive but the last for years.

I started off loving seeing in name tags but after working my way through iron on and stick in without much success I now use EasyTags - they are like little buttons with the child's name on. They go on with clicky applicator.

The initial investment is expensive but the tags are reusable you just have to buy more backing tags.

We laugh about this at our house ds1 had lovely embroidered name tags, few years later dd starts school and it's iron in tags, few years later ds turn to start school and it's a sharpie on the label!

I use the stick on ones too ... They have lasted a whole school year and even attach to plastic lunch boxes etc ... They are fab !

Superglue?

In Reception I lovingly sewed the name labels in. By about Year 2 it was Laundry Marker on the label. And only the surname so that I didn't have to bother again with DC2. Still using Laundry Marker now at High School.

Mynametags are brilliant - customise - £11 for 50 odd and stick them like stickers on to clothes labels / bottles / lunch bags / shoe tongues etc - literally I've never had one fall off!

I've put name, class and mobile number on this year as he's moving to a bigger school.

Using a hair straightener for the iron on ones is genius! I have some I need to do for DS's nursery clothes.
