To hide the damn dinosaur?

DS has an infuriating toy dinosaur that sings and moves about and he LOVES IT. All the live long day. Normally I don't really care about noisy toys, I end up blocking the sound out, but this one is horrific because I can't make out all the lyrics of the songs it sings so my brain automatically tunes in to try and figure out the lost lyrics. Of course, the songs also stick in my head, which again, I wouldn't mind but I can't stand not knowing the words. Am I alone in this? I know it's totally a first world problem but WIBU to lose the dinosaur for a few days? Alternatively, if anyone knows the words please fill me in! They go like... 'I'm a blank dinosaur called blank, and my Mum says I'm a cutie...'

I'm assuming it doesn't have good volume control?

I wouldn't chuck it...yet. The moment give DS stops being as interested in it, bin if. Do not donate it and pass it on to another unsuspecting family.

I never used to put batteries in until the DCs got tired of the toy. I then put in the batteries and wahoo a brand new toy. It's not a 'Barney' is it? Purple with green spots IRC. That thing used to drive me insane.

We've not had it on today (amazingly) but it's sitting grinning at me from the floor, we've reached the stage where it even annoys me when it's silent. Of course I'm singing the songs in my head anyway, so... But I'd still feel mean taking the batteries out, I might just hide it, he's young enough to forget about it if it's not there (I think).

How old is he? My youngest Ds is 10 months, he forgot all about the noisy caterpillar he dropped in Sainsburys and I never went back for it....

Could you google the lyrics to allow you to sing along with confidence? If you can't beat the dinosaur, join it.

YANBU. DH had a mini breakdown yesterday and threw one of DS's noisy toys out of the window yesterday after he accidentally kicked it and set it off for the millionth time.

DS wasn't present, btw, and I'm sure he'll find it in the garden, at some point hopefully after it dies of exposure

No idea about the words but I take the batteries out then tell mine it's broken and can't be mended ...... oh and they NEVER die of exposure - I left one overnight in a paddling pool and same one overwintered in a sandpit - still sings !!!
