To think that the word "cocklodger" defines the concept?

Before joining MN I had never heard this expression. I've seen it explained a few times and am clear on the concept. Now, recently something has happened to make me think a guy is a potential cocklodger. I don't think, if I hadn't read the word and its description that I would have understood this. So AIBU to think that by inventing this word and defining it that a new concept has also been invented which allows us to see something that previously would not have been that simple?

It existed before it was named, its just that its easier to describe to someone else if it has a name.
So instead of an endless list of stuff he does that rankles, you have one word that defines and describes that group of behaviours.

I actually knew a mini wife and she was a natural daughter, not a step daughter. The description fitted her behaviour perfectly. It was creepy as fuck and I ditched her as a result.
Watching a grown adult undermine her own mother and flirt with her daddy is a real eye opener.
At the time I nicknamed her 'oedipus by proxy'.

Words give us a new frame for actions that we wouldn't have been able to put together otherwise, wouldn't have been able to see the pattern. Having a word for it legitimises a concept, "phew, you see it too?"

First principles of social constructionism - we define our world through labelling concepts, which solidifies them into reality. In other words, we construct our world through our social behaviours, one of the biggest tools we have to do this (which is a construct in itself, is language).
