to call in sick for suspected strep throat?

I started getting cold like symptoms last week and called in sick on Friday as I felt so weak, my head was extremely fuzzy and I just generally felt rough. Over the weekend I've developed a really bad cough and I've been up all night coughing. My throat and chest are really sore and I keep going hot and cold, I think I may have strep throat or something. WIBU to call in sick again? I feel so bad just thinking about it, like I'm letting people down as there are a few people on holiday this week so I really need to be in work.

Call in sick.

If the boss says you need to be in, tell him to recall somebody from their Annual Leave.

In the UK I don't think we tend to swab for tonsillitis they use Centor Criteria instead to assess if it's likely to be bacterial. One of those criteria is absence of cough. The others are raised glands, high temp and gak on the tonsils. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centor_criteria

Either way you can feel dreadful. The criteria are just used to assess if antibiotics are worth prescribing.

OP, I had throat infections from the age of 12-15, they eased a bit when I had my tonsils out. I'm fairly used to tonsilitis/phlayryngitis pain.

I had strep throat once, a few years ago. I can safely say it's the illest I have ever felt. Stay off. It you are employed it's not really your problem that work are short staffed.

PS. I'd like you to note, I think I've got pneumonia (one of my clients has it, I've now developed the symptoms) and feel awful!!! But due to being self employed I really feel I have no other option!

Mono is glandular fever, not strep throat, which is bacterial tonsillitis.
