To be suspicious of this eBay seller's request...

Calling anyone who knows more about ebay than me!

I have just successfully bid on a Bugaboo Donkey (£650). The seller said in her ad that she would courier for a fee of £25.

I emailed to check she was happy to courier before I paid. She sent the attached reply. I don't really understand what she is asking. Is it suspect? Obv as it is quite a lot of money I am a little wary of being scammed. Please can anyone shed some light on what this is about?

Many thanks!

I have agreed to this twice from two different sellers... Both times it stressed me out no end (because you just don't know do you), but both times it fortunately turned out absolutely fine x

Da whilst ebay fees are hefty they are hardly a scam as it is clear from the beginning.

HeCantBeSerious · 18/08/2016 16:25

Don't sell on eBay if you don't like the fees!

Her English is poor which makes me think it's a scam. Seriously, avoid paying so much money away to someone you are unsure of!

Atlas15 · 18/08/2016 17:05

It sounds like she bumped up the bid with another account because the price wasn't going how she wanted.

Laurie that's not through you have PayPal protection whether you use eBay or not but ONLY if you pay "good and services " not if you pay " friend or family".

AuroraBora I remember that post. In that particular case, it was the OP who had asked to go off-piste. And she paid dearly for it.

The op with the oven paid through friends and family too didn't she? That's why she wasn't covered.

If you tell ebay she's trying that they'll send quite a strong email. I got one once, which I was quite indignant about because I wasn't trying to.
I'd had something in watched items, and she I went to bid on it, the internet went down. I could see no one has bid, so I sent the seller a nice message asking them if they planned on relisting as I'd wanted it.
Got email from ebay saying they'd had a report I was trying to buy it not through ebay, the seller had obviously thought I was trying it on. Actually I wasn't, wouldn't have accepted if they'd offered.

kali110 · 21/08/2016 01:49

Is that not allowed then witch? I was going to do that the other day when i forgot about my watched items!

HeCantBeSerious · 21/08/2016 02:30

Think about it. The seller has used ebay's infrastructure to find the buyer. They aren't going to want them doing deals outside eBay that sees them making nothing for it!
