In tears and think I'm going to die

I know no one can tell me it's going to be ok but have got myself in such a state.

I am absolutely convinced I have a brain tumour and am going to see my GP next week.

In the past 6 months I've been having regular headaches and seeing floaters in my vision. My once amazing memory has suddenly disintegrated and I can't remember the names of people I worked with six months ago. When I speak the wrong words come out. Things like, it's time to go to the bank instead of its time to go to bed. Or I pronounce words wrong. All so unlike me. Finally I have weakness and tingling in my legs and arms.

It's actually worrying me so much I can't think of anything else. I just can't see any other reason why I would be having all of these symptoms. I am utterly terrified.

I am 40 for context.

Sorry just needed to write it all down.

You obviously need to get checked out but I have had a whole raft of similar symptoms (and convinced it must be something awful) and guess what....it's the fabulous early start of the menopause 😭, the old lady not sleeping (and worry) adds to the symptoms of muddling words etc. Try and stay calm and get checked out when you can x

Good luck. Another vote for migraine from me. I once got stuck at a roundabout because I couldn't work out why my car wouldn't go...I didn't put it in gear. Words...don't even get me started. If they sound the same I'll use a different word by mistake...not always appropriate :/

Good luck, hope your fears are put to rest.

I had similar symptoms but it was nothing to do with brain tumours. It all started 3 days into a course of antibiotics called ciproflixacin, and took two years to recover from. I had severe nerve and tendon pain as well as everything you describe. In had tingling in my legs that felt like a mobile phone vibrating against me. I had tests for everything from deficiencies to lupus to brain tumours, and everything was ruled out and eventually doctors admitted it was a toxic reaction to the antibiotic. Several people I've met who mention they have brain fog/peripheral nerve issues/tendon pain /fibromyalgia have realised it happened just after a course of cipro! So commonly prescribed as well!

Wasn't sure whether to post this earlier - because you were worried, but now you will have seen your GP and have some idea what is going on with you. So I will post just as an information for anyone with similar symptoms.

My XH had been having very similar symptoms those described, visual probs, memory loss and confusion, tingling and pain in legs. Initially told it was type of visual migraine. Then episodes got more frequent and severe (he lost vision completely in one eye temporarily and had an episode of complete amnesia (he forgot we were divorced !!) - luckily I was around and took him to hospital)

Anyway to cut a long story short, turns out he has been having TIA's (Mini strokes) he is 55. He's been attending the stroke clinic for check ups, is on a blood thinning medication to prevent clots and also takes stains as he was found to have high cholesterol which increases the risk. After about four months he is back to normal - feels fine, cholesterol is down to normal level and he's had no more episodes.

I mention not to worry anyone, but just to put it out there that TIA's can present as a rather weird set of symptoms and sometimes people dismiss what they are feeling as symptoms are a bit vague and hard to describe. Always worth getting things checked out.

Hope everything went well at the docs OP, and you have some answers.

I am another who has had some very strange migraine symptoms. The most unusual symptoms have come without the headache. They seem to be hormone related and were at their worst during my last pregnancy five years ago. I have had loss of vision and inability to use the correct word: at worst, my speech has been incoherent.

With the disclaimer I am not any sort of medical professional, I would think if the optician didn't see anything, then it is fairly unlikely to be a brain tumour. Opticians are brilliant at spotting things like that, usually before people have any symptoms.

I have fibro, and it has now become a family joke: what rubbish is mum going to come out with this time!? I also have migraines and hypothyroidism and anaemia and I'm menopausal, so my poor brain has no hope.

You sound like me four years ago aged 40. Had brain scan, blood tests, MRIs, saw three consultants and all found no problems. My GP was convinced it was anxiety, but I felt anxiety was unlikely to cause such physical symptoms by itself. Then a very switched on neurologist suggested testing my estrogen levels (rather than just FSH). This immediately showed I had a massive hormone imbalance (still had periods yet levels randomly dropping to the levels expected in your 70s!). I was told by a friend to join the website Menopause Matters where I soon discovered I was not alone in having such weird symptoms (migraines, numbness, tingling, random cold limbs, burping, back ache, nausea, weird vision). I now take HRT (the risks are associated with people over 50, not in their 40s) and life is massively better. Check out Annie Evans' website as well.

H, I had these symptoms last year. GP refereed me to neurologist. Done blood test (very low level of vitamin D) and MRI scan ( brain and spine). I was diagnosed with sciatica. Taking vitamin D every day now, cancelled gym membership ( I was exercising too vigorously) and feel Much better.
I was worried but decided not to be upset before the actual diagnosis. Was thinking about brain tumour and MS too. It is very important to do MRI scan to rule these things out.

The symptoms you describe sound like aura migraine. Can be triggered by stress and anxiety. New house and new job are two very stressful things OP, especially at the same time! Try to stay calm as getting more anxious will only make the symptoms worse (easier said than done I know). Take it easy for a few days, do something relaxing with DH or friends and try not to worry too much Flowers

Oh bless you :( Flowers I think most people are guilty of self diagnosing (me definitely included! I use doctor Google weekly) I know it's going to do very little for how your feeling until you have a definitive answer from the doctor.. But I could of written this post! I have pernicious anemia (b12, iron, folic acid.. I just don't retain it) and when I'm low, just before an injection I'm everything you just described! Also migranes can cause floaters in your vision.. Blood pressure for the tingling.. Stress can cause it all.. There's lots of other explanations xx

I'm yet another one here that had similar symptoms (tingling, numbness, muscle weakness, headaches, muddled words, flashes in my eyes) that all turned out to be just anxiety. Looking back I can't believe what my head tricked me into feeling, it was extreme enough that I gave positive responses to the reflex checks that they do for neurological disorders.

I was convinced there was something seriously wrong, but after the clear MRI my symptoms started reducing and a couple of months later it all felt like a distant memory.

I'm 36 and went to the GP with almost exactly the same symptoms about a year ago. The memory loss I'm suffering from is appalling and I've started to stutter and say the wrong words etc. Basically the GP did full bloods (which came back fine) and a.dementia check I.e. Asking me what day it was, what month etc. She then concluded it was stress (full time working mum of two young boys).

I had all those symptoms at 36 when I was in a horrid, stressful job. They went away after I left.

Gp was a but crap and rushed me out but has referred me to neurologist. He said it was more for my own peace of mind as he could see I was worried. But he doubted it was anything serious. I can't relax though till I know for sure. Thanks everyone for posts, you've really helped me calm down xx
