To not want to cut DS hair?

DS is three in October has beautiful fine golden curls. Dp wants to cut it before he's three but I think if it gets cut he will loose his lovely curls (which always get lots of nice comments when we're out).

I've said no please don't cut all his lovely baby curls off but dp has said he's going to have straight brown hair anyway and it needs tidying (we both have straight brown hair so he probably will)

But I would like to keep his 'baby' hair as long as possible because I think it's very cute.

Here is a picture so you can see his hair

Don't do it. I cried for days after DS had his hair cut.

Much ado about nothing by both of you. Boys do not need to have their hair cut by 3yo, the looking girlie stuff is ridiculous, but then again you are overreacting.

Ask DS what he wants done and do that.

If the curls are only temporary they will have to go sooner or later - you can't keep him young just by not cutting his hair I'm afraid.

The fact that the back is a frizzy mess suggests that your DH is right and it does indeed need cutting.

It's only hair- it will grow back! Your DS has many significant milestones ahead - a trim of the frizz is really jot one of them!

Isn't true really. The curls probably wont grow back, so when they are gone they are gone forever. It is quite a milestone from babyhood to childhood. But is a significant milestone for the parent not the child.

Photos of my son are markedly different pre and post curls cut off. It isn't something we wanted to rush. If a baby has straight or fast growing hair then it is different. But it is symbolic in our culture to cut off your baby's curls.

my boys have never had their hair cut. My very curly 6 year old now has his tied up for school, but until he was in reception class he'd go to nursery with it down as the curls kept it up out of his face.

I would do what you want, and not worry about it.
