To not want dogs to walk on my front lawn

I can't stand it when dog owners let their dogs walk on my front lawn and go about their business. Surely this is extremely disrespectful. I come home from work earlier to see a dog on my grass and the owner just waiting there until I walked past and into my garden then she smiled and walked away

Do you mean shitting on your lawn? That's disgusting (and illegal I think?) If it's simply that they're walking you need to get a grip.

We have the same problem. A restrictive covenant prevents us putting up any sort of fence. I've spent a small fortune in plants, and get really fed up seeing dogs being allowed to wee on them. Now our own dog tries the same, but at least we can then rinse it off a bit.

If I catch anyone letting their dog foul on the strip of grass next to our house I yell at them and give them a nappy sack to clean it up with.
It seems to work as the problem is diminishing. Either it was the same walkers on a regular route, or my reputation has spread.

If i was walking a dog i wouldn't let it wander off the path onto someone's lawn or garden just because there's no fence there. You don't loose all comprehension of boundaries just because there's not a barrier in the way.

The 'just walking' on some grass can quickly turn into a stop for a poo.

Oh god,...Dog lovers will insist its perfectly ok for a dog to walk on your lawn and you are BU and people who don't like dogs will say it is not ok.

If you don't think an owner should let a dog walk on your lawn then when you see it happen you should ask them not to do it.
The postman walks across our lawn instead of going round the path... He doesn't wee on it though

Not all dog-lovers think this is ok. It's not ok and the dog should be on a lead going past these gardens with no front fence.

Yep, same, dog lover here. Wouldn't let my dogs walk across other peoples gardens. Wouldn't let my kids run across them either.

We have a 'neighbour' like that. She used to have 2 west highland terriers on extendable leads all over the place. Seen them crap of someones's front lawn. She has two other sort of terrier now and lets them widdle on next doors hedge, half way up our drive .

She used to take a short cut over the lawn of a corner house over the road, and when there was snow there once, she just walked over the garden in front of their kitchen window. They have put various prickly plants strategically around the grass which have now formed a sort of barrier and mark the corner clearly (people used to drive over the corner too).

Not acceptable to allow a dog on anyone's private property, Same goes for people. I don't want children playing in my front garden either.

baroness I think either you or one of your kind has yelled out of your kitchen window at me. Guess what I do (and have always) pick up poo but after a meeting of the dog walkers we now all encourage our dogs to piss on the COUNCIL strip of land outside your house. Swearing and the disabling language used towards me means Noone feels any goodwill to our resident busybody.

As long as they're not weeing or pooing, what don't you like about it?

A guy near us got so fed up with dogs weeing on his plants and killing them that he put up a sign. The dogs just wee'd on the sign as well.

On two occasions, I have banged on my windows to 'shoo' dog owners and their pets away from my lawn. The last time, a very respectable lady in her 50s just sort of shrugged at me. So I came outside and asked her to get her dog off my lawn immediately and what on earth did she think she was doing letting it do its business on my lawn!? She was saying "oh, I'm sorry, it's just that once she starts I just can't stop her".

As if that makes it ok??? It's a miniature poodle, not a donkey FFS. Just pull it away. And another thing: if there's nothing wrong with letting it relieve itself on the lawn, why don't you just let it do it on your own lawn??? Mmmmmm?

A dog walking past straying on the grass a bit would be OK but letting a dog potter all over someone's garden isn't right. I wouldn't let my toddler potter over someone's garden!

I don't think YABU on this one. I'm a dog owner & love them however, if my dog did that, whilst of a lead, I'd call her immediately. There is a massive assumption from some dog owners that everyone likes them as much as they do. Personally, never a problem for me however, I could see why it would piss some people off.

I assumed you meant on-lead but has veered off the path and trotted across your lawn for a bit.

I had an issue with a man allowing his dog to crap on my front lawn he even took offense at the fact I shouted at him for it. I have told him several times to stop and he hasn't he doesn't even pick it up!
I also think that the breed of dog might be on the banned dogs list so will have to take photos and then contact the police.

We can't put a fence up so that's not an option. I don't mind dogs walking on the grass but I know what usually follows if they stay too long
