Thought I would try them out.. What a waste of time and what a bunch of ignorant fucking twats there are in the world.. Or certainly round where I live. Arranging to pick up then not turning up or responding to message.
Others agreeing to sell item, then just not responding to messages. Or saying comment for price, then not replying. I think I'll just take all my stuff to charity shop and get good feelings that way!!!

Chester draws always has me in fits.

Discobabe · 13/08/2016 13:16

Freecycle did my head in with all the "i'll take its" no please or thankyou or any hint of politeness. I'd only give it to someone if they had manners Grin

RubberDuck · 13/08/2016 13:21

I feel your pain.

Currently waiting for a Freecycler to turn up to collect an item - first time I've used it in years (and now I'm remembering why I gave up bothering). They've been very vague about when they're coming to collect, changed the time three times and still aren't here. Why did I bother?!

JennyBunn · 13/08/2016 14:29

I got cheesed off with the stupid questions - "will it fit in my car?". Grr - I've given you the measurements you stupid bastard so work it out yourself!

YY to the ill-mannered. "I'll av it" was one such reply.

IntelligentPutty · 13/08/2016 17:07

I just have no time for people without manners. What does it take to say please or thanks. But arranging to buy things and not turning up / responding. And worse adding for sale MUST GO. So I text to say how much and hear nothing. Nothing for 1 whole day. Must go!
eBay all the way now!

Saw a funny one the other day which was asking for a free Moses basket or similar. Someone had a purple one. No thanks Hun. It needs to be suitable for a boy.
The one who offered said doesn't matter what colour. They'll only sleep in it! So true!!

Just brings up the total dregs in society !

My favourite is...er... I don't know, toddlers plastic slide for sale. Must go today, £5 or it goes to the dump tomorrow.

So give it for free then! Confused

willfuckformichilenstarfood · 13/08/2016 17:29

It drives me insane, I give most of my stuff away for free because I cannot be bothered to be knocked down. Then people want it delivered etc. I use it because I don't have time to be going post office blah blah to post. I always make sure everything is cleaned (and ironed) people selling clothing that isn't ironed gives me RAGE

EweAreHere · 13/08/2016 17:33

I've done well buying and selling on local FB sites, but there are some ridiculous behaviours on some of them. The squablling about who 'offered' first or who commented first, etc can be downright silly.

SandyPantz · 13/08/2016 17:33

If you put up something good you get 20 of the following message:

"Do you still have this I am/my sister is a foster carer and really needs one for the kiddies they have no toys"

20 foster carers who all have NO toys for the kiddies! hmm okay then…

so you reply "no that's sold, but I'm still selling x, y and z"

And then the "foster carers" reply with "what brand is it, I only want pink" Hmm

SandyPantz · 13/08/2016 17:36

"just want to get back what I put into it"

  • so you won't knock it down to a secondhand price then?
SandyPantz · 13/08/2016 17:38

Or "free bag of clothes, age 2-3, gender neutral & girls stuff"

"please can I have this I'm a foster carer and I really need it, what brands are they please?" Hmm
"Just high street basis, would be perfect for a foster child arriving with nothing"
"no I only need brands thanks"

SandyPantz · 13/08/2016 17:41

"Brand new Jumperoo up for £80 people offering £45 the price of a secondhand one. I've been quite direct in my responses. The item is new. If you want to pay £45 you'll need to look for a secondhand one!"

Unless you're a shop, it's second hand. What you mean is that it's not been used, it's still second hand and not worth the same as a new one in a shop, because if you buy from a shop you can bring it back at a later date for repairs or replacement for faults etc.

GinandTits · 13/08/2016 17:45

Someone tried to sell a gift voucher for mns for ten pounds when it had ten pounds on it. She couldn't understand why she should knock a quid or so off either when people explained they'd have to go out their way to collect as she didn't deliver. Confused

SandyPantz · 13/08/2016 17:46

That's one of the things that wind me up, people thinking that just because it's not used it's worth the shop price

the shop price includes customer service, repairs, recalls, sometimes spare parts down the line, a choice of colours/patterns etc. You don't get any of that from a selling group buyer

Boysnme · 13/08/2016 17:50

I have sold quite a bit on Facebook selling but get so annoyed at the haggling over 50p and not turning up or wanting it delivered when it costs more in petrol than what they are paying for the item!

I now save it all up and do a baby market sale instead. I might pay for the stall but make more and don't have to deal with rude and ungrateful people!

Anything that doesn't sell goes to charity.

Andbabymakesthree · 13/08/2016 18:17

Sandy then they are welcome to pay the extra £20 or more for this particular one online..... hth.

GinandTits · 13/08/2016 18:49

Oh God yeah I hate that if it's not used they think it'll fetch the store price. A woman has been bumping a rocking chair in the box but no receipt and asking for full price :/ you may as well get it new with receipt customer service etc!!

Rhubardandcustard · 13/08/2016 18:50

Interested!

The people that just say this on your post and nothing else, you either want it or not. I just ignore these people and go to the first person to say yes please!

Sugarlightly · 13/08/2016 19:35

a lady once turned up without the right amount of money - "oh I've only got 3 £10 notes and you said it cost £25" "well you can just turn right around and walk down the road to the shop for change"

She got in her van and drove home. Would have cost her more in petrol to get here and back...

SandyPantz · 13/08/2016 20:49

Sugarlightly

I had one of those. Agreed £25, she arrived on time, said she couldn't get change as she doesn't know the area and wanted me to take £20. There is no way to my house without passing a corner shop, there's one on each end of my road. I pointed her in the direction of one of the (visible from my house) corner shops, she never came back.

FFS if she'd have ASKED ME if I'ld take £20 for it when she asked for it I'ld have said yes, I was happy to get anything for it. Gave it to the charity shop for nothing the next day and swore off selling groups

SandyPantz · 13/08/2016 20:51

Actually Sugar, mine also came in a van (and with a partner).. makes me think that rather than just being cheeky and trying to get a last min £5 off, they woulda actually robbed me if I invited them in while I poked around for change

RainyDaisy · 13/08/2016 21:04

You know you can buy a brand new Jumperoo for £67.....yet PP is selling a second-hand (albeit unopened, unused)....of course it's not sold

RainyDaisy · 13/08/2016 21:04

For £80

Andbabymakesthree · 13/08/2016 21:11

Yes but not this particular model. If it doesn't sell Im happy to hold on til new baby wants it. However of course cash always welcome too :-)

Banana99 · 13/08/2016 21:34

I had someone message me continuously about a brand new wooden kitchen I was selling - offering me a tiny amount on the basis her kids really wanted it.
I then did sell it on gumtree for asked amount and she then messaged to complain she would have paid that amount if I had told her someone else had offered it.
Piss off
