To be so jealous of my best friend?

My best friend is currently in Santorini. So far this year she's been to Venice, Cuba and is going to Mexico later on in the year.

I've been on a weekend break in the UK Sad

I know I'm being unreasonable but I could cry knowing that I can't afford a lovely holiday until god knows when.

We don't even have passports as we can't afford them. Holidays are camping if anything. I don't feel particularly jealous of friends and we do have friends who jet off all over the place, but I would love to offer my children the opportunity to see the world a bit. I'd like it too. I can't afford it though so endeavour to enjoy what we do have. Maybe one day.

Maybe jealously is the wrong word because I am happy for her don't get me wrong. She doesn't brag and I love her but it just makes me sad that I can't go on holiday. After a really tough few years I could do with a break but I know most people could too.

I get it. This is the 1st year I haven't been able to sort out some kind of family holiday with dd. And it hurts. All my friends have flown off to sunnier climates and I'm wondering if I can manage a last minute 1 night away somewhere. Keep telling myself it's not going to be like this forever.
and to make matters worse a work colleague has been totally selfish and managed to get 4 of the 6 Summer weeks off and tried to make me feel bad for me having my one week gggrrrr

I have been abroad 4 times in my 36 years. My daughter (11 yrs) has never been abroad. I get how you feel but I don't care so much. This year is the first time in years that we have had a holiday. We went to yorkshire and it was fab. I saw a part of the country I have never seen and as soon as we sat down on the train our mini adventure began. We will go abroad one day but it won't be anytime soon. I do feel lucky to of had the break as many years its been days out near home and always watching the pennies. My friend is off to canada next week, i'm excited for her, in 10 years it may be me?! Who knows.
