His latest pronouncement is that Barack Obama founded ISIS, or words to that effect.

Anyone would think he didn't really want the Presidency.

Where do people like him come from ?Confused

Lweji

Thanks for the quote. Perhaps you can tell me what you picture in your head when you read it? Is it....

a) Obama and HIllary stood in a town square in Iraq handing out Isis membership cards and an Isis manifesto document calling for the creation of a Caliphate which they have personally written

b) Obama and HIllary making military and diplomatic policy decisions in Washington, including the withdrawal of American troops from a fragile state and the supply of aid and funds for various "insurgent" groups in Syria, which led to the formation of Isis

While it would be nice if Trump was perhaps more precise with his words, the role the press is playing in inventing meanings that aren't there is blatant propaganda.

I find it hard to believe that the educated people on this thread are falling for the media's bullshit. I strongly suspect that they are just going along for the ride and enjoying pointing and shrieking in a 2 minute hate at the big bad man.

For a change, he was precise with his words and he's standing by them.

It doesn't matter how I interpret them, but how voters interpret them.
He was offered the chance for the more realistic interpretation and he rejected it.

Lweji · 12/08/2016 13:09

Also: what I picture in my head after his words is a lying, manipulative ashole.

JudyCoolibar · 12/08/2016 13:09

So how do you interpret the words he used about the second amendment in relation go Hillary Clinton, scatter?

Spudlet · 12/08/2016 14:07

Nice if he would be more precise with his words? Nice?

The man wants to be president of one of the world's major powers - a role in which his words could lead to catastrophe - and it would be nice for him to be more precise?

Bloody Nora.

www.politico.com/story/2016/08/trump-obama-islamic-state-sarcasm-226947

Well apparently the ISIS thing was "sarcasm" FFS

I'm in two minds about his campaign, either this is an elaborate troll that was supposed to raise his profile and make him some extra money but then went on too long or he's actually still a Democrat and is trying to do his best to make sure Hillary goes unopposed.

I suppose the most likely explanation is that he's a thick narcissist though.

JudyCoolibar · 12/08/2016 14:33

But why would he want to be sarcastic about this? Normally you would use sarcasm to say that accusations of connections between Obama/Clinton and ISIS are nonsensical and those who make such accusations are idiots. But plainly that isn't what Trump wants to say. I'm seriously wondering if he actually knows the meaning of the word "sarcasm".

EnquiringMingeWantsToKnow · 12/08/2016 14:40

Here's Snopes on the "Republicans are the dumbest voters" quote. I agree that spreading lies about Trump is playing into his hands - it's not as if there isn't enough true stuff to attack him with.

Lweji · 12/08/2016 14:44

The level of English in the quote is definitely too good for Trump. It screams fake.

ofshoes · 12/08/2016 14:56

But why would he want to be sarcastic about this

Baffled by that one myself, it's the level of discourse of a teenager "Stop taking it thick mate, I was being sarcastic!"

we can only hope he keeps it up until the actual election. The idea of him having any level of responsibility is terrifying.

mimishimmi · 12/08/2016 15:25

CIA and other intelligence agencies have played a huge role in the development of paramilitary groups like ISIS. Order through chaos.

ofshoes · 12/08/2016 15:35

I'm sure that's completely true but ISIS was formed 9 years before Obama became president.

Shock

Scatter your last post is the single most frightening thing I have read on MN.

Lweji · 12/08/2016 16:19

I wouldn't say frightening...

There is a big difference between rejecting all muslims, as Trump has been proposing, and fighting terrorism (which, btw, isn't exclusive to Islam).
There is also a big difference between respecting each other's religion and wanting everyone to follow any religion.

It is true that alienating people just because of their religion can only push them towards extremism.

LottieDoubtie · 12/08/2016 16:26

It's the language of disingenuous hate that frightens me.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/08/2016 16:40

funnily enough I don't need the media to interpret what Trump says, because he says things over and over again, quite clearly trying to incite hate.

I guess scatter has learned the meaning of sarcasm, unlike his/her idol.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/08/2016 17:42
