So I cut my foot about ten days ago

It was deepish but I couldn't be bothered with the walk in

So dh super glued it

Which wasn't a bad idea except drink had been taken and we didn't clean it first. Infection set in and couldn't escape due to super hard super glue skin

I used a clean Stanley knife to relieve the pressure. (Sponers it was magnificent)

Now however the sore but is growing and the skin around it is dead and the dead skin is growing

I keep chopping off the dead skin but more appears

Dh thinks doctors I think that's a waste of everyone's time

AIBU?

Crikey, go and get your GP or practice nurse to patch that up before you get a nasty infection!

That doesn't look infected to me, probably just a good old bandage will do the trick. See the nurse if it starts getting more painful/oozing, or just to get it seen to properly.

Kudos for the superglue use though! From memory it was developed in the Vietnam war? But they don't use it in 'normal' times for whatever reason I can't remember.

Don't bother with doctor.....see the nurse practitioner.
Our GPS refuse to do bandaging and dressings themselves.

Looks alright to me... Be guided by your symptoms rather than anything else.

If you're sure it's not infected then is relax... Though the whole dead skin growing might be errr, a sign of infection?

As someone who delayed going to see a medic re toe infection, I can vouch for mumsnetters being irritatingly right about this kind of thing Wink

Three prescriptions later and it's just about healing. Buggery toe!

I can't figure out why see a doctor. It doesn't look infected. I'm not sure why OP keeps removing dead skin. Let it alone & keep it clean.

Doesn't look infected to me, just buggered about with. (I'm a practice nurse).

Looks like a clean healing wound. But you can make an appointment with the practice nurse for assessment and s/he may be able to give you a dressing to make it more comfy.

Don't bother seeing the GP - most of them haven't got a clue regarding dressings etc and will send you to the nurse anyway!

Surgeon here. Looks like a clean healing wound with a cavity. Important to let it heal from the bottom of the cavity rather than close over. Let the practive nurse clean it and try not to put pressure on it ie avoid too much walking.

ZOMBIE FOOT!! Grin

Go and get it cleaned out properly. And next time you do it, make sure you clean it before gluing it shut.

Can you describe the Stanley knife operation to us? Gratuitous details welcome.

I wouldn't bother anyone with this, looks fine (as in not infected!) and as though it will heal by itself.
I have also done diy superglue surgery to avoid wasting time and resources of others, it's been fine each time.
