I don't know who is more in the wrong here. The PR disaster that Cineworld are creating for themselves or the sheer ignorant attitude of some the Daily Fail readers who have genuinely made me go Shock

Sorry if this has already been posted. I'm not often speechless but Shock

Not a single parent by the way. Just in case you think it's clouding my judgement.

I don't read the articles really Worra I have the app on my phone as I find it a bit more user friendly than most. I travel a lot so use it to keep upto date with what's going on while I'm away.

"Have you seen the size of cinema drinks?"

So they are for passing round? Nooooo. I wouldn't want to do that.

Even with my DCs.

Especially with my DCs.

MsJuniper · 09/08/2016 23:35

How weird. Surely some mistake? My local independent cinema has a family ticket but it just needs to be a minimum of 2 children out of the 4 people.

Our local Everyman only sells tickets in pairs online, you have to ring if you want a single ticket, which really infuriates my widowed friend. Really odd policies some of the chains come up with in the name of profit.

Yes, so you're a Daily Mail reader.

There's nothing wrong with that, I think you're probably in the majority here.

I just don't understand the volume of Daily Mail readers who come here to slag off their newspaper.

One woman a few weeks ago, read an article by Katie Hopkins and then had the gaul to start a thread asking for 'hand holding', because she had been so upset by it Confused

Lorelei76 · 09/08/2016 23:41

MsJuniper, how annoying! I don't go to the cinema much but I will remember that.

I have had a couple of weird situations with online booking where I wasn't allowed to choose a single seat that had another seat next to it - as soon as the system realised I was booking for 1 person it told me I could only choose from other single seats that happened to be empty in between already booked seats - if that makes sense.

pluck · 09/08/2016 23:49

I recently booked Odeon tickets, and the family deals were not only refreshingly ungendered; there were different adult/child combinations, too!

SheHasAWildHeart · 09/08/2016 23:50

The cinemas local to me have giant posters everywhere including the ticket machines telling you that you can get the family meal deal if you buy family ticket. There's been some misunderstanding somewhere.

RepentAtLeisure · 10/08/2016 00:10

Daily Fail commenters are always ignorant.

Yes. Today there's another case where a man was found not guilty of rape, and the commenters are falling over themselves screeching that they want her named and shamed, and arrested for a false accusation. A few people have pointed out that a not guilty verdict doesn't mean she was lying, but the morons think they can be red arrowed into oblivion.

chancesareabadthing · 10/08/2016 00:21

I don't buy paper newspapers. Unfortunately I find when you 'google' any news the daily fail is very prominent and usually more up to date in comparison to other online newspapers. It's very frustrating as it isn't their views I want to read but other news establishments seem to lag behind in terms of getting reports online. We're all doomed😨 being fed their shite.

WorraLiberty · 10/08/2016 00:29

You're only being fed their shite if you choose to read it.

I don't mind reading The Daily Mail, The Daily Star, The Sun, The Daily Mirror or any newspaper that comes up in a Google search (although I tend to go straight to the BBC website as it's bookmarked).

But what I would never then do, is slag off the newspaper I chose to read and to slag of its readers because....errrrr I would be one of its readers Confused

PortiaCastis · 10/08/2016 00:40

How does anyone know the newspaper is pure unadulterated dog shite unless they've bought a copy or read it online
Baffles me it really does. Same as if your name's Vicky you are automatically stereotyped as a gobby lard arse.
We had a Queen Victoria I believe.
Easy to look down on people and stereotype, but we are none of us perfect

What I find utterly amazing is since I have stopped reading the Mail Online completely I am No longer at all bothered by the DM and its long tail of hate.

It's a simple cure in everyone's power. Improve your life NOW and stop reading this shite.

DISCLAIMER there are goady fuckers trolling comments all over the Internet. Look and you shall find them. They are also fairly easy to avoid.

BeMorePanda · 10/08/2016 01:03

The Tea and Kittens blocker was excellent in breaking the crack habit.

IAmNotAWitch · 10/08/2016 06:16

MN and the DM are completely codependent.

to be fair though, that's because they have sofas that seat 2 people. Rather than individual chairs.

Not many people would fancy sharing a 2 seater sofa with someone they don't know, so it's easier to sell in pairs.

Carmen1983 · 10/08/2016 06:45

I feel that the cinema are perfectly right here. The argument is over the use of the term 'family', but it is very common for entertainment attractions to use the term 'family ticket' for 2 adults and 2 children. Ultimately a second adult needed to buy a full price cinema ticket to be eligible for the meal deal. So if this woman had to pay an extra £15 for the meal, this probably works out the same as the price of that second adult cinema ticket so the cinema has made the same amount of money.
Therefore nobody has said she does not have a proper family without a partner, the cinema have simply pointed out that she had not spent enough on cinema tickets to be eligible for the subsidised meal rate. It is a ridiculous over-reaction to go to the media about it!

SlinkyVagabond · 10/08/2016 07:07

I followed DM Reader on Twitter. He'd gather the pick of the DM bile everyday. He's packed it in because after 6 years he said he felt his soul dying.

montymum · 10/08/2016 07:15

Not a daily mail reader either however I also think you need to realise that the daily mail comments are regulated by the daily mail. Once an article appeared that was related to my workplace and when I tried to comment with a more balanced view than those being spouted by the daily mail comment section my comment was not published. So although a lot of daily mail readers may have these views there may also be other's who are just not having their views shared.

MsJuniper · 12/08/2016 00:53

Davos that's kind of the point - why not have some individual seats as part of the auditorium setup?

OpenMe · 12/08/2016 01:10

I was initially outraged and felt sure that the customer must have been served by some religious nut acting independently, but on further reading it seems that to qualify for the family meal you had to buy a family ticket which seems fair enough to me. Not much different to a buy one get one half price offer.

Maybe it should be called something different but I always buy a family ticket if I go out with a friend and her DCs in the holiday (i.e 2 adults and 2+ kids) and no-one's ever queried it. It's the numbers rather than the lack of a man.
