To think there must be an easy way to long term weight loss?

I'm so frustrated with myself, all my adult life my weight has fluctuated between 9 stone and 11 stone.

I'm 5"5 and currently 10.5 stone. I need to lose a stone to be a weight I'm happy with. It shouldn't be too difficult, I've done it several times, but I never keep it off and always go back up to 10 stone.

My trouble is I just love all the bad things too much and I'm not a big fan off cooking and exercise. I'm kind of restricted in what I can do because I've got two young dc so I'm mostly limited to exercise that I can do with them in tow. Not much of an excuse as I can still get out walking.

But how do you teach yourself to change long term? I'm annoyed with myself because I put the effort in so many times I've got down to 9 stone or less but it creeps back up.

How old are the kids? As they grow up there should be more active things you can do together which is not only good for all your health but also for building strong relationships with them through their teens.

My eldest is 8 which is fine but my youngest is only 14 months.

Although I have got a baby carrier which fits on my bike.

I have successfully lost nearly 8st on my all new, patented ELF Diet. (Eat Less Food). I eat what I want - but less of it. I challenge myself to leave more each time. Eat slowly and deliberately. Enjoy it. If you don't have the willpower to save the leftovers for another meal, chuck it out. Seriously simple, but over time I simply can't eat nearly as much in one sitting as I used to. I don't believe that my stomach has shrunk, but as I no longer wolf my food down, I am more in tune with the first signs of fullness.

Stop aiming for a "weight".
Put the scales in the bin.
Aim for a "feel"

  • I try not to ooze over the top of a particular pair of jeans.
If I stop oozing, I relax for a few days. If I start to ooze I am more strong willed.

"target weights" and "diet till target weight" are recipes for disaster and yo yo ing

Agree with Talkin Peace.

After an initial ten stone weight loss. And then having to lose a 4 stone regain years later........that is how i now maintain.

14 months is a great age to put someone in a buggy and walk for miles. My 8yo is pretty sluggish but can walk 5 miles.
I hate being unfit. I mean, how fit I am varies, but the idea of not feeling mostly energetic in my body: ugh.

8 year old is great and pretty much up for any exercise and is happy to walk for miles it's just me staying motivated.

Some great tips here.
