I hope it goes ok op.

PacificDogwod · 07/08/2016 17:15

If my success rate with 'fallen out of the nest before their time' chicks is anything to go by, it is doomed. Sad
Far too young and too nekkid.
Poor thing.

Who'd do something like that? Post it through somebody's front door?! ShockAngry

DesolateWaist · 07/08/2016 17:18

Who the hell would put something like that through someone's door?

harshbuttrue1980 · 07/08/2016 17:22

What a beautiful chick. Yes, they can survive - I've done it in the past with a baby pigeon. It will need food asap - this site tells you exactly what to do. I hope you can get it to a rescue centre soon! www.wikihow.com/Make-Baby-Bird-Rescue-Food

Idliketobeabutterfly · 07/08/2016 17:24

Vets will probably put it down

Idefix · 07/08/2016 17:24

Recently when conducting a thorough search of ds (17yrs) bedroom for dd 15yrs) missing socks yes I know this makes me a bad mum I found a mummified recently fledged bluetit Sad between ds bed and the radiator.
Really upset to think of it hunkering down there terrified/distressed amongst rejected socks and dust balls. Bizarrely there was no smell.

Really hope op that this little one beats the odds.

Hoppinggreen · 07/08/2016 17:25

silver I doubt that's true of every vet, certainly not the 2 near me I've taken wildlife to.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 07/08/2016 17:25

I know nothing about birds so am no help, but I hope this little might survives.

Idrinkandiknowstuff · 07/08/2016 17:29

I was found a baby bird like that. Fed it every two hours with maggots (from a fishing supplies shop) and water frown eye dropper. It lived for six weeks.

Redglitter · 07/08/2016 17:29

I found one very similar at my mums about a year ago. We took it to the bird sanctuary and it made a full recovery. When theye took it in they give it a reference number so you can phone them for updates

donajimena · 07/08/2016 17:30

I'm marking my place and hoping for a happy ending.

bertsdinner · 07/08/2016 17:35

Poor little thing, dont fancy its chances but I hope it survives.

scarednoob · 07/08/2016 17:37

This has made me so sad, poor little thing being taken away from its mum by someone or something :(

APlaceOnTheCouch · 07/08/2016 17:39

mite not might - thanks auto-correct Hmm

JustGettingStarted · 07/08/2016 17:42

If this happened to me, I would kill it as quickly as possible. I know that sounds cruel but I would be wanting to put it out of its misery, is all.

Stratter5 · 07/08/2016 17:46

Fucking stupid thing to say silver, and untrue.

What a vet will do is ring someone like me, a wildlife rehabilitator/fosterer. It's what we do, care for wildlife - I used to specialise in birds, and if OP was in a 50 mile radius it would have come to me.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 07/08/2016 17:46

Poor little thing. DP's family rescue birds. They've had a couple this age, usually baby seagull or owl chicks. DP once got very attached to a couple of owl nestlings, he was heartbroken that they didn't make it.

Fingers crossed for a happy ending for this little one.

Grassgreendashhabi · 07/08/2016 17:50

Poor thing, keep us posted

flumpybear · 07/08/2016 17:56

Poor thing .... Ring a wildlife sanctuary and get
Advice

NamingIsTough · 07/08/2016 17:58

So pleased I took it. They are going to do everything they can for, it was a long journey, but so worth it. Lots of traffic at the time we went.

I cannot believe that a couple of you would have killed it ShockAngrySad that's horrible. You wouldn't just kill a child who doesn't have much hope of surviving, you do everything you can because there's always a slim chance.

Thanks all. I'm sad to see it go! Sad

No constructive advice to add but I am placemarking because I hope there's a happy ending to this!

RedorDread · 07/08/2016 17:59

Hope he/she makes it OP.

I'm wondering if kids had found it and posted it through the first door they came to, seems like something a child would do.

Hope you manage to find some help.

RedorDread · 07/08/2016 18:01

Ooh posted at the same time!

Good for you OP, so pleased someone has taken the little chick in. Give it a fighting chance.

LunaLoveg00d · 07/08/2016 18:02

Glad you took it in, but you can't draw comparisons between a bird and a human.

PurpleDaisies · 07/08/2016 18:02

Good luck op! I remember Martin the pigeon who was found by another mumsnetter and taken to a shelter. I think he was bigger but still-you never know. Sending positive vibes to the little bird.
