To ask about FY1 and FY2 placements

Obviously I'm not a doctor myself but just asking out of interest. Do all the placements have to be different or can you repeat a placement in the second year? Also do people then specialise after these two years? Thanks!

Mine were:

FY1 in 2007-8
Surgery (Urology)
Surgery (Vascular
Medicine (cardiology)
Medicine (Diabetes/Renal)

FY2: 2008-9
Medicine (Geriatrics)
Medicine (Neurology)
A&E

Our trust did have one job in FY1 in A&E and some FY2 jobs in O&G but nothing else. Different hospitals have (?had) different rotations to offer depending on what specialities were available.

In GP Training you do 2 more years in hospital. So I did...
Paeds, Medicine (Respiratory), Palliative Care, then Psychiatry and GP in my 2nd year. Then straight into final year GP training after Mat Leave.
