Cupcakes in ice cream cones

I keep seeing this video at the side of MN and thinking 'ooh that ice cream looks nice' and then remembering its a fecking CAKE and feeling really cheated.

WHO would look at an ice cream, a lovely creamy cool ice cream, and then be happily surprised that it was a bit of dry old sponge?

Surely this recipe could only lead to crying heartbroken children, and pissed off parents who'd mistakenly spent time lovingly baking something that is just a great big con and ruining childhoods?!

Or is it just me.

The only obvious thing is that you're being a bit tiresome. No one looks at an M&S Colin the Caterpillar cake and thinks it's made of actual caterpillar do they?

ParadiseCity · 02/08/2016 13:42

But 99GBP

earth = yuk. earth that turns out to be cake = good surprise
caterpillar = yuk. caterpillar that turns out to be cake = good surprise

soup = ok. bowl full of something that turns out to be ice cream = better than soup. great surprise!

cake = nice. Ice cream = nicer. Ice cream that turns out to be cake = shit surprise.

yanbu

I hurrumph at them every time I come on MN

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/08/2016 13:43

Why are you so put out at the thought of someone assuming one of those buns might be an actual ice-cream?

Is that aimed at me?? Hahahahaha!

Fab, love it when people get all serious about a thread that is quite patently irrelevant and ridiculous!

KittyKrap · 02/08/2016 13:50

I keep getting ads on FB where a woman covers an Oreo (the devil of all biscuits) in thick chocolate and decorates them. Now that's disappointing.

I'd rather have a bag of crisps.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/08/2016 13:50

Yeah. You seem really chilled out.......

99GBPChargeToUseMyPostsJournos · 02/08/2016 13:59

Because comparing cakes and caterpillars is generally the domain of the serious debater.

You got me. What can I say? I am sitting here in a pent up fury because someone prefers ice cream to cupcakes and doesn't want to confuse the two.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/08/2016 14:01

Never mind. Have a bun, that might help you to relax.

PageStillNotFound404 · 02/08/2016 14:01

YANBU OP.

I like cake, but when I've been tacitly promised ice cream, I want ice cream!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 02/08/2016 14:04

I've never understood why people like Oreos.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 02/08/2016 14:05

Even the moistest cake in the world is going to be stodgy when put with an ice cream cone - it is like one of those pies which have a cake inside!

AnotherPrickInTheWall · 02/08/2016 14:13

The very idea of them makes me gag.
I suppose I grew up in a generation who were not weaned on flavourless " kiddy food" and find that sugary blandness quite revolting.

Notso · 02/08/2016 14:16

A friend had a cake that looked like a KFC bargain bucket. It was rank.

ParadiseCity · 02/08/2016 16:21

Now I want KFC. Even though KFC itself is rank.
