AIBU to ask for an induction because I'm terrified of stillbirth?

Didn't feel like this with DD (9) or DS (11). I'm 35 and 39 +4. This is baby with new partner. Will be out only chance for various reasons. I'm having a boy.

I'm on the GAP programme and have had lots of scans as DD was born small with a bowel defect - although lovely and healthy.

Although the growth has tailed off a bit my waters and placenta are apparently fine. Consultant waved me off on Friday having given me a sweep and said not to worry.

I constantly fear that this baby will be stillborn despite all the scans, no obvious health problems and knowing that the odds are 2 in 1000 at this stage.

I'm contemplating asking for an induction because I'm SO SCARED.

Is this unreasonable?

Totally get this, feared this so much I had inductions with my three, most recently earlier this year. Consultant agreed to it when I asked, explaining this as my reason. All I cared about was getting baby out safely once full term, so that's you now. Would suggest you need to explain your level of anxiety to your MW or consultant ASAP to make this happen ...

Thanks so much for your responses ladies. Have spent the last 24 hours taken out by a nasty lurgy - which has done nothing for my anxiety levels. Am now having bad coughing fits - which when you have a baby in your pelvis does not feel good. Have passed loads of bloody mucus (tmi). Rang the labour ward and consultants secretary begging to be considered for an induction as I'm so exhausted and ill. They said 'no' but it was over the phone, not an appointment. Have midwife appointment tomorrow and am going to actually open up about scared I am and see if we can agree on a plan - as many of you suggested.

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks so much. It's comforting and practical what you have said and REALLY helped.
