Inspired by another thread (holiday cottage welcome pack)...

Where are your favourite holiday destinations and places you'd recommend, UK or abroad? If you could link or name specific places, that would be great. Also, say why you like them so much.

We're always looking to go to new places and find recommendations to be really useful. Thanks.

Grosmont, North Yorkshire. Steam trains, tea shops and walks. Fantastic walk from the village to Goathland stopping at Beck Hole. Mostly flat and great for buggies. Kids love going to the locomotive shed at both ends of the day to see maintenance and renovation work. Love it. Love it. Love it.

Carmel by the Sea in California. A sleepy town by the most gorgeous beach on earth. Warm days and cool nights. Sea breeze. Good places to eat and drink. My favourite place to stay there is www.carmelcottageinn.com/

We did a cruise a few years ago which stopped off in Madeira. It was amazing. We only got to spend one day there but we loved it. I'd love to go back.
Also Kenya was amazing

Sa Coma - Majorca

We went last year as a group of 12, age ranging from 9-65 and all had an incredible time. Short flight time (We got there in 1hr 40 mins), coach is relatively long (about 45 mins) but air con so was fine. Lively town with bars and things to stay out late if you fancy it, but also not rowdy so the older people in the group joined us a couple of nights. Can get the boats across to other towns, horse riding excursions (most laughing we've done in ages was my uncle on a horse!) and lots of water sports. We stayed all inclusive but the sandy beach was about 5 mins walk away with lots of nice restaurants, especially little tapas places. All very cheap for food and drink so we went out for dinner a few times. Weather was fantastic (we went middle of June for a couple of weeks) and paid about £1000 per adult, two weeks all inclusive with one bedroom apartments with small kitchens, transfers and luggage included. Half the group went back this year they loved it so much (we couldn't afford to go as saving for a wedding but would've loved to!) Amazing place, highly recommend.
