AIBU to think that this is a business decision, not just a scheduling decision, by the BBC?

Great British Bake Off is usually broadcast in early August.

This year, "because of the Olympics" it is being broadcast later.

Which also coincides with the new requirements for viewers to have a TV license to watch iPlayer.

AIBU to think this is not a coincidence, and that the Bee'b have finally developed some business sense? Some popular TV series are already only available to "buy" on iPlayer - I wonder how much GBBO will cost?

YABU to describe Paul Hollywood as "lovely". Flour-flourishing twat.

:o

I think a later start is much better anyway. Rather weird to start in Aug when surely a lot of their target audience (don't know if true but assuming) would be away on summer holidays.

Wait, so gonna need to start buying a licence if I want to use the iPlayer in September?

Sod that! 😂

Oh wait, just read they're going to rely on the "honour system"... That'll really work then...

Memoires · 31/07/2016 14:01

I'd much rather watch GBBO than the Olympics....

RortyCrankle · 31/07/2016 16:36

I don't see why it can't be for both reasons. It's about time they closed the iplayer loophole.

OddBoots · 31/07/2016 16:41

If it was for Iplayer reasons then they would want 3 or 4 episodes before the fee to hook people in.
