I'm looking for a novel way to announce my pregnancy to my parents( this will be to my parents only, not a cringey facebook thing), it will be their 15th grandbaby. My husband thinks I'm crazy and suffering with pregnancy hormones, thinks we should just announce it as we did the first time, by just telling them, aibu to want to do something a bit special ? or is all this new announcement craze a bot ott? it is very likely to be their last grandchild I was hoping to buy some blank/plain Russian/stacking dolls, have them painted with a name of each child on each doll, leaving the 15th unpainted, but I don't seem to be able to find this amount of dolls anywhere, and I'm worried that they are likely to be a bit thin & cheap, and split easily, another idea I have to get 15 horseshoes decorated in the same way, then find some way displaying them together ??? has anyone else got any better suggestions please ?

Yes.

Get them a wedding anniversary helium balloon in a box so it floats up when opened with a scan picture attatched to the ribbon with a note saying from your next grandchild. Congratulations btw Grin

ironrooster · 24/07/2016 18:54

Could you get 15 large boxes. Round up the other 14 grandchildren, hide them inside, and then have them jump out in age order to surprise your parents. They will then be curious as to why nobody has jumped out of the 15th box and will open it up to discover your scan pic. Ta da

FeelingSmurfy · 24/07/2016 18:58

Get a set of joint frames, pic of grandchild in each and a scan pic in last one? That's something that would be a nice gift anyway

DragonsEggsAreAllMine · 24/07/2016 19:32

I'm with your DH, it's a subsequent child for you and their 15th grandchild, they don't need some cheesy announcement. You're basically telling them you had unprotected sex.

GeoffreysGoat · 24/07/2016 19:53

Buy them a gooseberry bush

limon · 24/07/2016 19:58

Just tell them fgs. Why the drama?

ateapotandacake · 24/07/2016 20:08

Oo I saw a great thing and it would work with your photo comment. You line everyone up for a family photo and just before you press the shitter say "I'm pregnant" and then take the pic. Captures the happy surprise!

ateapotandacake · 24/07/2016 20:08

*shutter hahaha sorry

Diamondsandpurls · 24/07/2016 20:16

Anything you can think of tennis related "15-love"?

MidniteScribbler · 25/07/2016 02:50

"Dear Mum and Dad, guess what, I had unprotected sex!"

Only1scoop · 25/07/2016 02:56

What a cringe idea

Just tell them

HerRoyalNotness · 25/07/2016 03:01

Can you get a frame with multi display, with current photo of all the DGC and leave the last one blank? Could write 'coming xx date' in the window

HerRoyalNotness · 25/07/2016 03:03

Like this kind of thing. You might struggle for the 15 though

how would you do it ?
Lettuceislife · 25/07/2016 03:04

Spray paint it on to their front door?

AmserGwin · 25/07/2016 13:29

Get the child/children you already have to pose with the scan photo and a sign saying 'I'm going to be a big brother/sister'. Take a photo and send it to them

RedHareWithBlondeHair · 25/07/2016 13:41

Grin at aircraft!

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 25/07/2016 13:45

HerRoyalNotness I like that idea, I did a quick google and you can get 15 aperture frames fairly easily.

bumsexatthebingo · 25/07/2016 13:47

Surely the news of a new baby in the family is exciting enough on its own?
As for ideas you could maybe doll thing with just your kids?

Ragwort · 25/07/2016 13:52

You obviously know your own parents but if my children announced their pregnancy in any way other than 'just wanted to tell you I/my partner am expecting a baby' I would think they were utterly mad & I would find it incredibly cringeworthy. Equally I told my mother over the phone, I really don't get this 'big announcement' need.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 25/07/2016 14:00

When I read the OP I thought I wouldn't comment as this really isn't my cup of tea, but I actually love herroyalnotness's photo idea! I don't think that's cringey at all, it's really rather lovely.

I told my close family and very best friends by phone and a few other good friends by texting a photo to them. If I ever have another I would love to do the photo thing though.
