To deeply object to the smell of toast?

I'm in hospital unexpectedly for monitoring so no,time to plan what to bring in, I was only meant to be here for an hour or two this morning. I'm nearly 36 weeks pregnant and diabetic.

After hanging around the hospital the whole day with a single egg sandwich provided I got an evening meal, which was nice enough. No snacks available bar two broken ginger snaps, despite me being diabetic. Asked for cereal or toast, no joy. Was told off for wanting to eat too much by a nursing assistant despite one of my problems atm being difficulty maintaining blood sugar. DP unable to leave DD and drive over with food. I scraped together few coins and got a cereal bar from a vending machine.

The fuckers are eating toast at the nursing station and the smell is wafting in here. Should I get them struck off for cruelty or something?

After I had ds3 in hospital, admitted at 8pm, had him at just after midnight, the first thing I was offered was breakfast at 8am the next morning!
No post birth tea and toast for me.

What are your bloody sugars at right now? They should be making sure you are adequately fed and watered, do you have any other money on you? I'm quite surprised that they are refusing you food even though you are struggling. Are you low? As you know, a cereal bar isn't going to help indefinitely!

They eventually gave me a bottle of lucozade after some grumbling from me, so I won't go low, but I think they should have a supply of proper food! Blood sugar is fine for now. I know the fault must be "the system" but I want to cry at the smell of toast! Can't sleep as sharing a room with someone on a noisy monitor.

I can't lie, my poor punctuation made it unclear, I got a dinner (lasagne, potato croquettes and green beans followed custard and crumble). But that was 6pm! People eat after 6pm!

No toast smells now and I did get some sleep. Breakfast better be shit hot, but I expect it will be bran flakes.

I would be equally cross if denied something and then could smell it! There's something about cheap toast that is really yummy comfort food too... hope your asleep by now and will be released in the morning

I didn't have diabetes but wasn't offered food during my entire 24 hour stay having my daughter. I did however have a husband to....err command. Good luck OP!

I'm pregnant and had a week as an inpatient on a high dose of hunger inducing steroids! Hunger like no other!!

I was lucky that the nurses took pity on me and regularly brought me biscuits/bread and jam when I was hungry as I wasn't allowed off the ward to get to the cafe/vending machines/shop.

Is there a card machine? You need cash, a shop and snacks! You have my sympathy

There is a shop and if I'm not let home this morning I'll be down when it opens. And DP will be up of course.

But if I'm not allowed home I'll probably be having a baby and nil by mouth anyway!

I've survived better today thanks to supplies being brought in, and a trip to M&S in the main hospital (an upside of commercialisation of hospitals if ever there was one).

Thank goodness you have better food now!

Thanks. Yes, staying in for steroids and monitoring. No definite date for induction yet but suspect soon, and that I won't be home before it happens. My poor to do list will have to wait. My nesting has been thwarted!

Agh the pain of not being able to nest!!

Do you have lots to do whilst you're there? I found having little things to take my mind off it helped- sorting out photos into albums on my phone, crochet! Watching crappy films on my phone.

What is the snack situation now? Have you got a good stock in from M&S? I hear they do chocolate covered cookie dough, and I fully intend to go and buy some tomorrow to add to crappy food I seem to be eating this pregnancy, after being super healthy for my first two 😁.

Will put the cookie dough on the list for my breadtfeeding diet! Don't really have enough to do but might ask my mum to bring in some needlework or knitting stuff for me. There's only so much web surfing you can do, and hospital wifi is down so I cant stream anything.
