Hi everyone

Has anyone every walked out with items in bag and not paid. The essential oil item was falling through the basket so I put it in my jute bag, continued to get vegetables etc. paid for them forgot the oil.

I did and security stopped me took me to a room asked for address, DOB took my picture said I had a life time ban - but if I write to them they will reconsider ?? 2 other security guys turned up took my picture (not police) I paid for this on the way out.

I am been feeling ill all week due to this - I am not a thief at all.

I work as a teacher and extremely worried about this.

For example - my daughters best friend tried on a ring - in a outdoor market - and forgot to give it back - she arrived back at ours and said what should I do??? I said take it back - which she did - I am sure this happens all the time - but now I am just so upset and the shop is only around the corner - any advice - should I write to them explaining everything ?? Has anyone ever had this happen to them at all?

I ended up with a free top last week. I bought about five clothing items, and didn't pay too much attention as she was putting it through. I did think 'gee that's cheaper than I thought', but just assumed that there was a sale or something (a few items were already reduced). It was only when I got home and checked the receipt that I realised she must not have scanned one of the items (the most expensive one!). I called the store and they said they can't take a payment over the phone, I'd need to go in. I guess I was lucky the security gates didn't go off when I went though them or they might have thought I was stealing it. I'm sure it happens more often than people realise.

I did this once with an enormous pack of nappies. Hung it over the back of pushchair as too big for basket . When I got near the till I remembered I had a prescription to pick. Collected that & left the shop. It wasn't until I was folding the pushchair up to get on the bus that I saw the nappies. Thank god I wasn't stopped for that as I'm sure no one would have believed I could have accidentally shop lifted such a huge item. Write the letter & that should be the end of it.

thank you for the response - I am assuming that without the police involvement then this will not be on my record for DBS - still very worried
