To think our baby's room could easily be used for a boy?

DH and I, have been working on the baby's room for a while, we don't know what the gender is, we have one of each, so we thought we might as well go for a surprise, so we wanted to do the room gender neutral.

We are pleased with it, but a couple of friends have gone "oh, it's a girl!?" or "I think it's a bit too pink". Be honest, do you think a boy would be fine in this room/would you put your son in this room? Blush

How did you do the clouds?? It's beautiful, I'm very jealous!! My baby girls nursery has blue walls, really cannot understand the issue at all!

Noodledoodledoo · 20/07/2016 12:56

It looks gorgeous, I am also impressed no.3 is getting a fab room.

With the bows and ribbons could you paint them on instead once baby is more mobile so they are still there but not 3D?

ReallyTired · 20/07/2016 13:01

Very pretty. However as a word of warning my children like to sleep in my bed and dh got kicked out and made to sleep in the baby's room. Maybe the room should cater for your partner's to taste.

Small children care little about their room decor. Babies just eat, sleep, cry and poop in the early days.

Thank you all very much for the comments :)

It looks great, not girly or boyish at all.

frikadela01 · 20/07/2016 22:36

What a beautiful bedroom. Perfect for any baby. Some people are idiots, I've had people tell me that my babies room is a bit too girly for a boy... It's got yellow walls and animal stickers and accessories, obviously the height of girliness Hmm

AtSea1979 · 20/07/2016 22:39

Surely by time new baby is old enough to care it will be ready for redecorating.

MaeBla · 20/07/2016 22:39

Forgot to say, the clouds were painted on with a sponge Smile

It's beautiful, my son would love it, he loves kites and pink! Definitely neutral imo!

Nan0second · 20/07/2016 22:46

In good news, my DD age 1 has not grown a penis or announced she is trans in spite of her blue walls with monkey wall stickers. she does still have short hair though
Seriously the room is great

AnnieOnnieMouse · 20/07/2016 23:18

When expecting dc1 I decorated the room with Victoria Plum paper and blind, etc, because I liked it. When asked what I'd do if it was a boy, I said I'd redecorate as soon as he complained about it.
Later, we moved, decorated nursery with clouds, planes, balloons - subsequent dd never complained about that until she was 7 and wanted Aladdin.
It looks great, btw.

MsJamieFraser · 20/07/2016 23:22

It's a lovely decorated room, but not my style, only because I like a blank canvas with colour inputs.

The room is for either gender, your friend is unreasonable.

WanderingTrolley1 · 20/07/2016 23:28

It's beautiful. For boy or girl.

canary1 · 20/07/2016 23:28

It's beautiful! Lucky baby, boy or girl, it's so lovely!

Out2pasture · 21/07/2016 00:01

well done! it's a beautiful baby room....boy or girl ;)

allnewredfairy · 21/07/2016 08:07

Your friends are probably seeing the pink curtains and bows. I'd see it as a girls room if I had to guess. It doesn't really matter though does it? Baby won't care so the only person that has to like it is you. Job done!

SuburbanRhonda · 21/07/2016 08:11

It's a lovely room, OP.

But it's the sex you don't know yet, not the gender Smile

WellErrr · 21/07/2016 08:11

Not at all suitable for a boy.

It's a well known fact that if you allow a boy child to come into contact with pink, their willy will fall off and they'll catch The Gay.

Hmm
ShowOfHands · 21/07/2016 08:16

I didn't sort out a bedroom for my son until he was 3 and even then, he went into a room with his sister. The theme? Musical theatre. He's doomed!

RichPetunia · 21/07/2016 08:18

Your room is so lovely I'd happily sleep there. I'd maybe change the colour of the curtains to make it less pink, but that's all. It's a beautiful room for a very lucky baby.

DeltaSunrise · 21/07/2016 08:27

Just asked my 7yr old son what he thought and he said "it's very lovely, I like it"

It's a beautiful room op for a child of either sex.

Spudlet · 21/07/2016 08:30

What a lovely room. I think it's neutral too!

People can be weird. We didn't find out our baby's sex either, and decorated their room with a seaside theme. Because that involves some blue for the sky / sea, people instantly assumed we secretly knew we were having a boy. Because - well, I don't know really; because everyone knows the seaside is not for girls, perhaps ...? Hmm

Houseconfusion · 21/07/2016 08:35

The room is fine.
Pink is fine.
Blue is fine.
Silver haired unicorns are also fine.
Both boys and girls are fine with all of these things.
