My horse's wound/eye is causing problems - can anyone help?

My horse had stitches, it was fine. Now it has began bleeding again, his eye is also drooping, but that was doing it before... Do I need to call the vet out again? My £££ is getting very small...

Yep, vet!

Maybe take a look at horse and hound forum in the veterinary sub.

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 18/07/2016 14:53

I think you should call the vet.

Lonecatwithkitten · 18/07/2016 14:54

As a vet myself I would advise calling you vet and having a chat it looks like it may have been banged and reopened slightly at the nose end of the wound.

MyHorse · 18/07/2016 14:58

Thank you! I was so hoping that wasn't going to be the case

Thank you, it has stopped bleeding, it doesn't look like the wound is opening, but I'll still get him checked!

It doesn't look infected. I'd clean it and put some Derma gel on it.

Mrsraypurchase · 18/07/2016 17:18

Definitely vet. Let us know what thy say. Poor fella.

Gabilan · 18/07/2016 17:58

I'd say vet but call them first and send them a pic. If you've got a good vet they'll avoid an unnecessary call out. I wouldn't mess around with an eye injury though.

SeenYourArse · 18/07/2016 18:32

Vet definately and ASAP!!

user1466200877 · 18/07/2016 18:47

Do hope his eye is better, Please let us know. Just one thing: flies are hell for horses at this time of year. If you runout of fly repellent try avon skin so soft original spray. Flies hate it and it is reasonable!!

Ditsy4 · 18/07/2016 18:52

Yep vet. If you don't and he loses it...

honeyroar · 18/07/2016 19:09

Yes. I have horses. Eyes are one of the things I wouldn't delay in calling the vet for.

SoleBizzz · 18/07/2016 19:11

There is a topic for horses. The Tack Room. NOT being arse. Just incase you didn't know. Hope eye gets better quickly.

RoystonVaseySmegHead · 18/07/2016 19:20

VET eyes are not to be messed with! There's a page called horse chit chat on Facebook you'll get loads of support on there I'd imagine (just watch out for 20 minute experts) Hmm

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 18/07/2016 19:50

Vet, without delay. Good luck.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 18/07/2016 19:53

As for Horse and Hound and facebook, ignore the obligatory idiots who'll suggest coating it in food-grade manuka honey / feeding turmeric or any of the other faddy things... There's no substitute for proper veterinary care, especially where eyes are concerned.

TheRealAdaLovelace · 18/07/2016 19:54

I would call the vet (many years professional experience with horses)
