To think winter birthdays are more limiting

Summer birthdays are more flexible because you can have them outdoors on indoors.

My little one will be 2 a week before Christmas. Last year we had about 15 people over with a big pot of chili in the slow cooker, a pot of rice and a birthday cake. Everyone had a fab time, it was nice to catch up with friends.

What are some other nice indoor things to do at home with friends and family for a winter birthday?

are people seriously flying from abroad for a 2 year old party or are you assuming they will?!!

they are. It's my parents, and my baby is their only grandchild so they want to share his day with him. Plus as his bday is a week before Christmas they'll stay over for Christmas too.

January is a crap time for a birthday. Everyone is skint after Christmas and/or doing dry January plus it's a depressing time of year.

On the plus side it's an excuse to get time off work though.

I agree.
I have my 2 boys birthdays in winter months and my 2 girls are in the summer. My 6yr old ds always asks for a bouncy castle party or something equally as unrealistic for 2 weeks after Xmas. I feel bad having to make the boys settle for the cinema every year or the the local pier.
My girls on the other hand always chose garden parties or the zoo.
I usually end up spending more trying to please the boys in the winter than the girls in the summer aswell 😕

I disagree. DS's birthday is the first week of August. Which is also the week everyone is on holiday. So parties had hardly anybody turn up because they were all away...

DD's birthday is Jan, and it's fab. Really cheers everyone up after the post Christmas slump. She has always had lovely presents from everyone, so never suffered from people not having much money.
