AIBU?

AIBU to hate my very large areola

I know we come in ALL shapes and sizes. My breasts have been very analysed due to loads of BFeeding issues every time medical professionals have pointed out my large areola (3 inches across) so no baby can miss the 'dark' area and issues I have with inverted nipples. Anyway this is totally a first world issue and I have fully functioning breasts that do what they need to do. But I absolutely despise my areola they literally take over the front of my breast like espresso cup saucers. Massive. If I had money I would get them reduced. Nuts I know AIBU I know. First world problem I know. I should go to sleep really

Op you sound like me, down to the problems with breastfeeding although I don't have inverted nipples. However I discovered some years back that I have what's called 'tubular breasts' if you have a google you can see if you have something similar?

I don't think midwives and breastfeeding consultants realise that women can take these things to heart. I was sick of hearing about how big my nipples were! Not the areolas, but the actual nipple.
Cold weather and thin tops were not my friends Shock

Thank god they seemed to have gone back to pre-baby size now.

This must be so much more common than we think. Fuck society and its representation of bodies only being acceptable a certain way.

I didn't even realise mine were particularly large until my husband commented on them, in a positive way fortunately.

Yanbu. In hospital, after having had a traumatic labour, I was struggling to breast feed and the midwife thought it would be a perfect time to say that "baby probably can't feed because your nipples point down, try laying baby on a table and feed bent over" Sad
I do have horrible shaped, floppy /saggy breasts, my nipple's point at the floor but ffs, it's not my fault, they just grew like that (I was only 23 at the time).

You might be interested in this gallery of normal breasts (warning, pics of boobs!) www.007b.com/breast_gallery.php

My breasts have gone all saggy from breastfeeding and one is about twice the size of the other. I live by the beach though and on summer days like this you really see all sorts of bodies - it's made me much more relaxed about mine!

I think possible yes I have tubular breasts? Even my mother has commented on how unusual my breasts are. She has amazing breasts lovely shape and nipples. They are very long almost attached at the top not at the bottom AND then these areola at the ends that almost cup the bottom of my breast. Thanks for the post I'm glad I'm not being unreasonable but I guess my BF issues really haven't helped
