Well I wouldn't leave them out on the street but it would depend on circumstances and how old the child was.

Depends how old and what the situation was?

Just me and the kids at home so yes I would. I would probably hunt the streets first and knock a few doors. Then if no luck then take them home. Ring the police and sit them in kitchen with drink and biscuit - while my older child keeps asking about in the street/looking for parents

I wouldn't but I'd stay with child and call Police.
If they said to take child indoors of course I would.
I think I'd be too scared of a parent turning up and not being happy child had been taken from street, especially if they were out looking for the child.

Absolutely not - it would put me at risk of all sorts of accusations. I live in a flat though, so it would be a bit weird for someone to knock on my door (they'd need to enter the building through a secured door).

Any child who managed to get list where I live would be old enough to have ridden several kilometres on their bike so would hopefully know their phone number.

A list toddler would have to be local and the village is small - I'd be surprised if I didn't recognise them. A toddler I'd take home or the to the (very lovely) local know it all a few doors down and ask her to help me reunite it with its family :o

I think I'd leave the door on the latch (if possible) and phone the police there and then and quickly explain the situation and see what they advised.

I had a wee girl appear in my house one day and I had no idea where she came from. I gave it 30 mins of trying to find out names etc and kept an eye out the door until I seen somebody clearly looking for her.

Deal with it. I couldn't leave a child alone who was lost. Not ever.

Having said that you can see our front door from the garden/road. I think I might fetch the kid some squash and sit out the front with them and see if anyone turns up looking.
