grrrr i didnt want to sign up to mumsnet its far too time consuming, let alone if you can comment.

anyway, i need to know this. would you let a lost child into your house?

OP posts:
Champagneformyrealfriends · 14/07/2016 16:39

Well I wouldn't leave them out on the street but it would depend on circumstances and how old the child was.

PickleSarnie · 14/07/2016 16:40

Huh? I don't understand your gripe about signing up to mumsnet. Surely that's a given on any forum?

And more details needed re lost child.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 14/07/2016 16:40

Depends how old and what the situation was?

RubbleBubble00 · 14/07/2016 16:42

Just me and the kids at home so yes I would. I would probably hunt the streets first and knock a few doors. Then if no luck then take them home. Ring the police and sit them in kitchen with drink and biscuit - while my older child keeps asking about in the street/looking for parents

More info needed.

Presumably you would have phoned the police, given them your address and told them you were taking the child in?

coffeetasteslikeshit · 14/07/2016 16:44

Yes

Buggers · 14/07/2016 16:45

Yes, probably not a teenager though unless they were clearly distressed.

Littleballerina · 14/07/2016 16:45

'let alone you can comment'??
what are you talking about?

gillybeanz · 14/07/2016 16:45

I wouldn't but I'd stay with child and call Police.
If they said to take child indoors of course I would.
I think I'd be too scared of a parent turning up and not being happy child had been taken from street, especially if they were out looking for the child.

ghostyslovesheep · 14/07/2016 17:03

why do you 'need to know'?

Odd post OP but I would stay with the child and call the police - I wouldn't take them inside unless the police asked me to

pintofbitter · 14/07/2016 17:06

Absolutely not - it would put me at risk of all sorts of accusations. I live in a flat though, so it would be a bit weird for someone to knock on my door (they'd need to enter the building through a secured door).

Honest answer. I really don't know. It's that fear of being accused of all kinds. That's the world we live in, sadly.

HighwayDragon1 · 14/07/2016 17:14

Without hesitation.

Schwabischeweihnachtskanne · 14/07/2016 17:14

Yes probably, and let them phone their parents from my land line.

Any child who managed to get list where I live would be old enough to have ridden several kilometres on their bike so would hopefully know their phone number.

A list toddler would have to be local and the village is small - I'd be surprised if I didn't recognise them. A toddler I'd take home or the to the (very lovely) local know it all a few doors down and ask her to help me reunite it with its family :o

OreosAreTasty · 14/07/2016 17:14

I think I'd leave the door on the latch (if possible) and phone the police there and then and quickly explain the situation and see what they advised.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 14/07/2016 17:14

I had a wee girl appear in my house one day and I had no idea where she came from. I gave it 30 mins of trying to find out names etc and kept an eye out the door until I seen somebody clearly looking for her.

So yes. I would. Dont know what your problem with signing up is, it's hardly challenging tbh.

Yes the style of the op is weird - guess s/he wanted to post without signing up... quite why this had to be posted on MN if that's the case is a question. ..

Claraoswald36 · 14/07/2016 17:19

Yes without hesitation and ring the police immediately and let them
Deal with it. I couldn't leave a child alone who was lost. Not ever.

Claraoswald36 · 14/07/2016 17:20

Having said that you can see our front door from the garden/road. I think I might fetch the kid some squash and sit out the front with them and see if anyone turns up looking.

LittleMissUpset · 14/07/2016 17:21

Depends on the situation but I would do something, even if it was phoning the police and staying with them?

Odd post? And signing up is easy Confused

Owllady · 14/07/2016 17:22

Yes
