Been with DP a year, happily cohabiting. Cooked him his favourite tonight, steak - not the first time I've cooked it for him.

Imagine my dismay and disgust when he mixed tomato ketchup and mayo and dipped in his perfectly cooked medium rare steak.

I must have look appropriately horrified as he said 'what?! It's been a year now so I feel I can do this in front of you'.

Can I LTB?

Where do you stand on BBQ sauce with steak?

Dinner the other night, DP said he was just going to stick his fish under the grill for a few minutes. Which he did. Then smothered in ketchup and mayonnaise.

That'll learn me not to buy sashimi from a very expensive Japanese fishmongers

I made a chicken stir fry with hoisin and ginger and he put 4 processed cheese slices on the top of it. Will also have ketchup with pretty much everything.

You would hate me also, I have about 15 sauce bottles on the go. Gammon only with salad cream, steak with Caesar dressing, fish and chips with curry sauce and ketchup, liver with HP, baked beans with HP, chicken with Nandos or sweet chilli dipping sauce, any roast dinner with mint sauce includes beef, pork or chicken, I don't like lamb!

I am pretty gross but I love a good bottled sauce or three.

Well it would have been worse if it had been tomato ketchup on its own, but he clearly doesn't respect you, this is the start of the slippery slope, it will be jam on Yorkshire pudding next.

My ex put salt on everything I cooked without even tasting it first-it was an automatic reaction to food. Grab salt pot, smother food in salt. Tomato ketchup crime has nothing on salt crimes :)

Having said that, if he's going to smother his steak in special sauce from now on, I wouldn't bother splashing out on the steak-bit of brisket instead of filet mignon!

I eat my steak with dijon mustard, it's so good!

That's nothing like a marie rose sauce, it's just mayo and tomato sauce.
Marie Rose has lemon juice, tabasco, and worcester sauce and other secret ingredients.
It's served with fish dishes.

MoodyOne, first Christmas my partner and I spent together, he refused veg, gravy and mashed potatoes. Only had the meat, roasties and yorkies. For the sake of our relationship, I haven't made him a Sunday-type dinner since.

DS (7) does that with tomato ketchup and mayo.. its disgusting and self-taught because there's no way I taught him how to do it. He dips chips in it though not steak, he likes peppercorn with steak.

Thats nothing, I made a delicious sweet chilli chicken last week and dp covered it in cheese. CHEESE!

He also eats feta and ketchup sandwiches, but he is foreign and grew up with just his traditional foods so I forgive him
