How on earth do I get him to go? He has a blister on his toe, that's bad, but he is refusing to go because it hurts too much. Help?

branofthemist · 12/07/2016 18:10

How old is he?

ThomasRichard · 12/07/2016 18:10

opheliaamongthelillies · 12/07/2016 18:10

Did he go today? Or is he worrying about tomorrow? Probably be all forgotten tomorrow morning. Don't make a big deal of it tonight and see how things are. Storm in a teacup more than likely

Jinglebells99 · 12/07/2016 18:11

Blister plaster?

yesterday753 · 12/07/2016 18:11

He's 12!! We have tried but it's still "oh my god mum no that really hurt when I put my shoe on" Confused

GreatFuckability · 12/07/2016 18:12

tell him to get a grip, stick a plaster on it, and take him to school!

OneEpisode · 12/07/2016 18:13

Do you have a lovely comfy sandal that you could lend him? That'll show him you mean business..

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/07/2016 18:13

Put him in sandals (or whatever shoe style doesn't rub) and give him a note to explain the footwear choice.

timeforabrewnow · 12/07/2016 18:14

Why does he have a blister? do his shoes fit?

MackerelOfFact · 12/07/2016 18:15

Pop the blister and put a plaster over it, it'll feel fine then. Or tell him he has to go in flip-flops!

branofthemist · 12/07/2016 18:15

Give him a pair of sandals and tell him to get a grip.

IAmAPaleontologist · 12/07/2016 18:17

I suppose you could view it as a positive that he is putting lots of effort and acting ability into trying it on Grin

Ds1 who is 9 recently had a lovely infected nail bed with a huge blistery fluid collection at the end of his toe which spread to cellulitis all up his shin. It was magnificent. He missed half an hour ish of school when I took him to the nurse to have it lanced and dressed but the rest of the time was in school with a pair of old trainers on that had a hole in the end so they didn't put pressure on his toe.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/07/2016 18:33

A blister?Confused are you sure there's not some other issue making him not want to go to school, this sounds like an excuse.

Grin what like wanting to play on his PS4 all day?

Sandals is a great idea, no way would he want to be seen dead in socks and sandals.

OP posts:
ThomasRichard · 12/07/2016 18:59

Grin insist on socks and sandals if it's too bad for a plaster.

msgrinch · 13/07/2016 01:23

Quite simple... "You are going to school, its a blister! Get dressed and ready darling (and sort yourself out!)". This is a non issue. Who has time off for a blister?! Should we all take leave for a paper cut? Parent the child.

yesterday753 · 13/07/2016 01:26

parent the child

I hate it when people go too far. Nothin suggests I don't parent him. Sigh Hmm

A hundred years ago, boys not much older than him fought in wars. Tell him about them.

britbat23 · 13/07/2016 01:36

Crikey you're a mean bunch.

Blisters can be incredibly painful so at the very least he needs a Compeed or similar plaster on it. Clearly he also needs new shoes, or better socks.

Is it definitely a blister? As a child I once had an infected cuticle on a toe. It was very painful and I spent the day shuffling around and eventually got sent to the Gp to have the pus drained.

FInally when calibrating your sympathy levels remember that kids at school are incredibly active. It's not like they can "take it easy" or "keep the weight off it" like an office worker.

msgrinch · 13/07/2016 01:40

Well clearly if a blister is causing a need for a post on mn....and not a plaster and an "off you go" then you're not. Its a blister!! My nephew goes to school every day with a severe illness, his mum is an angel who pushes for a normal life for her son. A blister!! Get a grip.

yesterday753 · 13/07/2016 01:45

Lighten up. Everyone is so bloody serious.

OP posts:
yesterday753 · 13/07/2016 01:46

I also don't really know what your nephew has to do with it Confused

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 13/07/2016 02:06

Is it a blister or an abscess?

Italiangreyhound · 13/07/2016 02:16

Could there be another issue to do with school.

Can he walk or does he find it hard to walk.

I'd take him to doctor.

Thank God children of 12 don't fight in wars, in this country! What has that to do with this!
