Wibu to quit my job and go travelling?

I'm having a bit of a wobble.

Ex and I broke up very recently but are still living together for practical reasons.

I am heartbroken and sick of being sad. I've always wanted to travel and I have a few grand in savings sitting in the bank. I want to just quit my job and take off on the first flight out to backpack around Europe or something. I am a (mature) student with no dependent DC's or anything and my job is a part time minimum wage job.

My worry is, what do I do when/if I get back? If I spend all my savings travelling I'll have no money to move out when I get back. Plus then I'll have to get another job and finding another job that is a) compatible with my uni hours and b) not a seasonal job (as most jobs in this area are) will be very difficult.

Should I be sensible and use some of my savings to move out, while keeping my current job?

Or WIBU to just fuck it all, quit my job, leave and travel with my money?

I've actually gone and bloody done it! I've booked the trip! It's all official and paid for now, no chickening out Grin

I'm so excited but so scared at the same time, I've never been totally alone and relying on myself before Confused

Wow well done OP! I'm sure you have an amazing time and it will do wonders for your confidence. I felt so proud of myself for having made it to India, all the organising and courage it took to do it. And the courage was to overcome my fears about what might happen. And nothing I feared happened at all! And the bits that were a bit tricky, I coped with! 😀

Do you have time to do a teaching English abroad course? You may not want to come home and I know people who have worked in Italy and Spain supporting themselves doing this?

Your trip sounds fab. My big regret is being sensible in my 20s and not doing the big round the world tour. Impossible to do now although I plan to spend the DCs inheritance when I retire and do it then!
