What do your kids eat in a day?

Posting here for traffic.

We don't as a rule have 'junk' through the week - saved for weekends. But ds11 & ds9 say they're getting a bit "bored" with the food they eat Hmm To give you an example, yesterday they had:

  • Bran flakes, milk
  • Nuts, raisins, tomatoes, pepper
  • Egg mayo & salad wholemeal wrap, banana, cucumber
  • Salmon fillet, baby potatoes, veg

I was thinking of incorporating a 'treat' or something, but I'm not sure. They are very thin but don't want to feed them up on junk.

So, what do your kids eat in a day?

Today mine have had:

Weetabix/ porridge &'full fat milk

Wholemeal roll with ham, banana, babybel, packet of animal biscuits

Ice cream on way home from school as baking hot

Homemade burger & wedges, brioche bun, salad
Fruit smoothie- mixed berries, bananas, nuts and milk

They just have water to drink. This is fairly typical and we don't call things junk or treats

Stopgap, mine don't really like desserts that much either (apart from chocolate, hot puddings & custard 😁). We usually have a pack of crisps or a kitkat sort of things on Saturdays and a full roast on Sundays with a big pudding 😊

happylittlefish I swear it's to do with the fact I gorged on pasta with goat cheese while pregnant with the eldest, and an improper amount of dark chocolate with the youngest. DS1 didn't even eat his own birthday cake two weeks ago, but he's never met a fry or pasta dish he didn't love.

Mine are 8, 6 and 2 and typically eat:

Breakfast: weetabix/shreddies/Cheerios or toast with peanut butter or French toast.

Fruit snack mid morning

Lunch: sandwich/wrap with ham/salami/tuna/cheese, cucumber/carrots, fruit, yoghurt.

After school snack usually a biscuit/brioche/cereal bar.

Dinner: I normally cook from scratch things like lasagne, cottage pie, risotto, roast dinner.

Hahaha my boys are all exactly the same! Even ds14 who eats an unimaginable amount isn't too keen on sweet stuff. He prefers a ginormous bowl of pasta Grin

Today ds has had:

Rice crispies, glass of orange juice
Ham and cream cheese bagel, few grapes, raisins in yoghurt, Apple juice, crisps

Glass of milk

Macdonalds nuggets, fries and milk

More milk

Tomorrow we're having grilled bacon, scrambled eggs and mushrooms for breakfast, tuna pasta salad for lunch and chicken korma with rice and naan for tea.

It varies from day to day here. Ds is quite picky and will only eat minimal fruit and veg, and only ham, cheese or chicken in sandwiches. He'll eat unlimited amounts of raw carrot, cucumber, apples and grapes though, so tend to incorporate these into most meals!
