Name changed as very embarrassed for posting this as aware I will come across spoilt and ungrateful!

Our 5th anniversary coming up and dh told me he's having an eternity ring made for me. (Didn't know my ring size so had to ask). He then showed me a photo of the ring he's intending to get and asked me if I liked it. I didn't Blushbut said I did because I just couldn't bring myself to say anything else as I was so blown away with the gesture.

I'm not a spoilt cow but not sure it's fair to let him spend that kind of money on something I'm not mad about? WIBU to tell him I'm not mad on it and steer him to something I prefer as I'll be wearing it for evermore! Please don't judge me I'm well aware others have real problems and this isn't oneBlush

Re the kitchen aid, i asked for a vacuum one year for our anniversary. We needed one, so thought it made sense.

Glad it's growing on you OP, but you need to love it, you'll have it for years unless you're me and lose or chip rings with gay abandon

Scarydinosaurs · 08/07/2016 22:09

Really?? I don't even wear my engagement ring Blush I would much rather have something practical over expensive jewellery.

MrsKoala · 08/07/2016 22:15

I wear both my engagement rings, from my last and current marriage! I love nice jewellery.

SouperSal · 08/07/2016 22:21

My wedding and engagement rings had me in A+E. I tend not to wear any jewellery now. I've kept sentimental pieces to pass on to DD but really don't ever wear anything. It's amazing and depressing how many times people have bought me jewellery. My mother, sister, MIL did it regularly for years. Sad

SouperSal · 08/07/2016 22:22

The kitchenaid, on the other hand, makes me smile several times a day.

Soleye · 08/07/2016 23:00

Thanks MrsKoala that's what I wanted to hear-
I also would rather give someone something they wanted.

A VACUUM HerRotalNotness? Ive heard it all nowGrin If I needed a vacuum cleaner why would I not just buy one, same as a kitchen aid. why would those be presents?!

  1. Whilst on mat leave I wouldn't have spent the best part of £700 on anything just for me.
  2. He knew I'd love it and bought it as a surprise.
Soleye · 08/07/2016 23:16

Fair enough then- that's lovely

I think my DP would notice the second I saw it, apparently I pull some weird i don't like that face that's really obvious, even after I've received it Blush

Soleye · 09/07/2016 16:21

Dh and j just met friends for much and everyone was having their say about the ring I had to laugh, poor dh was meant to be a romantic gesture! Meanwhile it's grown on me so much that I'm going to find it very hard to take off.. which I guess solved the problem!

Dh's taste in jewellry is certainly not mine, he does try, bought me some beautiful dragonfly earrings but they were tiny studs and i am more of a large dangly earring kinda person, they are rarely worn which is a shame. Glad you are liking it, I had no idea you could borrow jewellry to wear first before deciding to buy Shock hopefully if it grows on you enough he will be happy to buy it for you and you will be happy to receive it.

Soleye · 09/07/2016 23:53

He has a contact through business who allowed him to take it on approval for the weekend. I'm not sure I was supposed to wear it all weekend though! Dh also gets it wrong sometimes, which is why he wouldn't spend that kind of money without showing me first- luckily!

Please please please can we have a pic. I love rings.

Soleye · 10/07/2016 10:52

I'm so daft I don't know how to upload a photo on here! It's a simple band of baguette stones. Dh likes the Raindance Anniversary ring from boodles which is completely different and wants me to try it before he pays for this- but my finger's conveniently swollen and I can't take it offGrin

I looked at the rain dance anniversary ring. It's 17500 quid. Jesus man. I want your dilemma

MrsKoala · 10/07/2016 13:03

Ooh I've been looking at a baguette band style ring to replace my hastily and v cheaply bought wedding ring. Not 17ks worth tho!

MrsKoala · 10/07/2016 13:07

Just looked at the boodles ring and I am not keen. Looks like it will really date. Much prefer a baguette band. Hope you enjoy your lovely ring whatever you have. :)

Soleye · 10/07/2016 15:13

No it's not anything like that ammount as don't even like the big one and dh knows a jeweller who would copy the smaller one.

MrsKoala that's what I'm worried about- agree it will date. Meeting him in Boodles tomorrow to try it on as have to give this one back, so will have to decide either way.
