So the British weather has had me in a rage - I cannot for the life of me do the in out in out game with washing any more! So I've started just leaving it on the line until a sunny day comes along- some washing has been on the line as long as 3 days before it's had a full dry. Aibu?

I do this but the longest I've left washing on the line has been three days. The house two doors down from us has had washing on the line for nigh on six weeks now! I think their kids will have outgrown the clothes by the time it comes in off the line.

I leave it out if it rains. Fuck bringing it in, it'll stop raining eventually.

ShakyMilk · 08/07/2016 22:39

Always do this, I think it smells much better after a "rain wash". Also hang washing out the night before. I am lazy though. And I wouldn't tell anyone in RL that I do it!

MrGrumpy01 · 08/07/2016 22:48

I am usually ok with this but one t-shirt had to go back in the wash as it smelt horrid.

If it is just nightwear etc than I wouldn't be so bothered but if they get really wet they do smell funny.

mollmoo It would probably get stolen around my parts Grin

MrGrumpy01 · 08/07/2016 22:49

The one t-shirt was the last time it happened, not just the one t-shirt in the whole of rained on clothes.

I do this but I do it more if I'm a bit down and can't be arsed. An ex colleague described one of her neighbours in horrified, hushed tones: 'she leaves her washing out all night' I didn't know how to react but sensed it was a horrific thing to do, but without knowing why?

PortiaCastis · 08/07/2016 22:56

So long as she didn't leave her cake out she's in the clear

MrGrumpy01 · 08/07/2016 22:56

I did accidentally once leave my washing out all night. It kind of felt wrong but I am not sure why.

MsKite · 08/07/2016 23:00

Ha! Just remembered another ex-colleague who told me that she had once left her washing out all night and a fly had laid its eggs on one of her towels and she'd ended up with maggots in her airing cupboard. I think this is bollocks because I happen to know that maggots eat shit and rotten meat, not terry towelling ConfusedGrin
I think it was meant to discourage me from leaving washing out. Obviously some people feel strongly about it, for some reason.

KatieKaboom · 08/07/2016 23:02

I live somewhere smoggy so need to.

DH never brings it in, drives me insane.

HungryHorace · 08/07/2016 23:04

We put our washing out overnight too. Last night it got darked and rained on at the same time. It's dry now though after it was sunny and windy today. Sorted!

I love the expression "darked on" Grin

BerriesandLeaves · 08/07/2016 23:18

My washing is being darked on right this minute.
